Smiley doesn't expect an Obama interview soon

Tavis Smiley doesn't expect presidential candidate Barack Obama to agree to come on his PBS late-night talk show before the election."The odds are slim to none -- and slim is out of town,"

He reminded me that he has received his share of flak from some African-Americans because they were unhappy with his professional posture toward Obama.

Smiley said that to the consternation of a number of Obama supporters, he hasn't given the Democrat a free pass during the campaign. Smiley said he has acted like an objective, probing journalist. It makes no difference to an ethical journalist -- whether he works in a news room or hosts a talk show -- what a candidate's skin color is or whether or not Smiley privately supports that person's prospects.

Smiley said he had heard from some African-American viewers that "'Tavis is a hater... a traitor...a sell-out.'"

In July, Huffington Post noted: "For months (Smiley) has been the object of an Internet firestorm for his perceived negative comments about Obama..."

"The issues I raised were affirmative action, campaign finance reform, gun control, the death penalty and wiretapping."

Race traitor. That's just what Barack Hussein Obama Junior called one of his black friends who was dating a white woman, just like his own mother and father.

Smiley should contemplate what his critics might be calling him if he dared to question Obama and was a white host.

They are stalinist in their approach. THIS is the horror of political correctness. THIS is the chill wind George Orwell spoke of.

Some journalists saw it early in the campaign and at the time of Wright were willing to jetison the Obama campaign, just as they had bailed on Howard Dean's approach and found "the scream" to be a convenient foil (that did not draw attention to his extremist rhetoric that is the lifeblood of the hard left).

Now they are all trying to get favor with him.

This should be an interesting election, with John Sydney McCain getting 15% of the black vote and Barrack Hussein Obama getting 105%.

For sure, Barack would not want to discuss those issues. That's not part of his hope and change smokescreen.
