TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Joe the Plumber is plunging into politics because he thinks it's about time America had a few mechanics, bricklayers and, yes, plumbers in Congress. Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher was thrust into the political spotlight after questioning Barack Obama about his economic policies during the 2008 presidential campaign. He officially launched his campaign for Congress in Ohio on Tuesday night.

Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, better known as "Joe the Plumber," has formed a congressional campaign committee and filed a statement of candicacy, according to the Federal Election Commission's website. The filing for "Joe for Congress 2012" was just submitted on Friday, and the scanned file does not yet appear on the FEC's site, and went without notice, to my knowledge, until a couple of hours ago. The statement of candidacy isn't online yet, but it lists Wurzelbacher in Ohio's Ninth District, which has been held by Democrat Marcia Kaptur since 1983. Wurzelbacher floated the idea he might challenge Kaptur in 2010,...

Joe Wurzelbacher, better known as Joe the Plumber, is considering a run against U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur in 2012, according to Republican Party sources. Jon Stainbrook, chairman of the Lucas County Republican Party, said there is "high-level interest in the national Republican Party" in a potential Wurzelbacher candidacy. "We are encouraging Joe to run," Mr. Stainbrook said. "He hasn't made any official decision yet." Chris Maloney, spokesman for the Ohio Republican Party, said a candidate like Mr. Wurzelbacher would have strong fund-raising capabilities thanks to national recognition he received during the 2008 presidential campaign, but added such star power would...

We wrote this weekend about how Joe Wurzelbacher has stayed in the public eye since 2008. Now, an Ohio GOP source said, Wurzelbacher is considering a bid for Congress in the Toledo-area 9th district, now represented by Marcy Kaptur.

Here’s a great compilation video showing some of the events that unfolded from the union protests in Madison, Wisconsin narrated by ‘Joe the Plumber’. Along with his own on the spot material are some of the highlights caught on camera from the previous couple of weeks. Definitely worth a watch.

MADISON, Wisc. – Thousands of Tea Partiers gathered in Madison on Saturday, in an effort to rally support for newly elected Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s deficit reduction plan. Likely 2012 presidential candidate Herman Cain, local Madison and Milwaukee conservative radio host Vicki McKenna, Gateway Pundit blogger Jim Hoff, Samuel “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher and conservative media guru Andrew Breitbart each took their shots at the union bosses who were gathering their supporters on the other side of the state capitol building. McKenna kicked it off calling for the Tea Party movement to stay strong and committed. “They want to think...

It is wild in Madison: Thousands gathered outside of the state capitol this afternoon to support Gov. Scott Walker. Teachers and firefighters circled the tea party as it rallied. Gadsden flags clashed with union banners in the cold Wisconsin air. It was a beautiful sight — loud, raucous, animated, and sweaty. Andrew Breitbart, Herman Cain, Brad Thor, Tim Phillips, and Joe the Plumber have addressed the crowd. The biggest chants: “enough is enough!” and “recall them all!” Some signs spotted at the rally: – “Stop leeching, start teaching!” – “Walker 2012″ – “Obama: Worry about your own deficit” – “I...

Just when you thought Ed Schultz couldn't get any grosser . . . On his MSNBC show this evening, Schultz bragged that by the time he was done with Mike Pence, the GOP congressman from Indiana would be "praying to the porcelain god." Schultz made his vulgar boast in a tease for a following "Psycho Talk" segment in which the MSNBC host took Pence to task for suggesting that Joe the Plumber had it right in 2008. View video here.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? [taken from October 2010 articles/blog posts]NASA's Islam Outreach Minister Charles BoldenGOP lawmakers are critical of Charles Bolden for leaving last week on a trip to China just as the agency he leads begins pursuing an ambitious new agenda. It is the latest in a series of controversial moves that some speculate could result in Bolden's ouster. A law signed a week ago gives NASA four months or less to develop a dozen different plans for the future, including a detailed report on how it would replace the retiring space shuttle. It's an ambitious schedule, one that NASA...

A federal judge yesterday threw out a lawsuit by Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher - the northwestern Ohio man immortalized as "Joe the Plumber" in the 2008 presidential campaign - alleging that three high-ranking state bureaucrats violated his privacy by running his name through confidential databases. U.S. District Court Judge Algenon L. Marbley said Wurzelbacher could not show that he had been harmed by the snooping. Three top managers of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services ran database checks of Wurzelbacher, who briefly vaulted to fame in October 2008 when he confronted then-candidate Barack Obama about the effects of his...

Jim DeMint or Sarah Palin he's not. But for a longshot Senate candidate in Missouri, Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher's endorsement may the highest profile get to date, and the 2008 campaign fixture's already going on the attack on behalf of Republican state Sen. Chuck Purgason's upstart primary bid against Rep. Roy Blunt. In a video posted on Purgason's campaign website Friday, Wurzelbacher slams blunt as a "Washington insider," linking Blunt to President Barack Obama and lauding Purgason's character and integrity. "Ever since [the 2008 race] I've made it my mission to stop politicians like Obama," Wurzelbacher says. "Missouri has a...

Among Donald Berwick's greatest rhetorical hits is this one: "any health-care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must—must—redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and less fortunate." Count that as one more reason that President Obama made Dr. Berwick a recess appointee to run Medicare and Medicaid rather than have this philosophy debated in the Senate. We are also learning that "spreading the wealth," as Mr. Obama famously told Joe the Plumber in 2008, is the silent intellectual and political foundation of ObamaCare. We say silent because Democrats never admitted this while the bill...

TOLEDO, Ohio -- Joe the Plumber is plunging into party politics. Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher (WUR'-zuhl-bah-kur), who was hailed by Republican John McCain's presidential campaign in 2008, has won one of nearly 400 seats on the local Republican Party committee in Ohio's Lucas County. The group elects the county chairman and sets the party agenda. Wurzelbacher won the seat by a 38-24 vote Tuesday in his suburban Toledo precinct. He became an overnight sensation almost two years ago after questioning then-Sen. Barack Obama on the campaign trail about his economic policies and then when McCain repeatedly cited "Joe the Plumber" in...

Declining to endorse in the Arizona Senate GOP primary, Joe the Plumber said he doesn't want to "create a lot of drama." Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher was in Phoenix this weekend for a pair of anti-tax rallies at the state Capitol. He overlapped on both occasions with J.D. Hayworth, McCain's primary opponent, but he didn't endorse the former congressman.

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Samuel "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher, once a prominent face of John McCain's 2008 presidential campaign, said Sunday that he won't be stumping for the Arizona senator in his close race for reelection. In an interview with FoxNews.com, Wurzelbacher said he was used as a "political tool" during McCain's presidential run and faulted the fourth-term senator for what he described as a weak stance on immigration and border security. "It's supposed to be a closed border. Why don't you uphold the law instead of trying to change it?" he said. "McCain's been a senator for a long time...

PHOENIX -- The day that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is set to campaign with Sen. John McCain in Tucson, another figure from the 2008 presidential election will make an appearance on the lawn of Arizona's capitol building. Samuel Wurzelbacher, more commonly known as "Joe the Plumber," is scheduled to make an appearance at Friday's "Ax the Tax" rally against Proposition 100, which institutes a temporary sales tax increase across Arizona to fill the budget shortfall. Wurzelbacher rose to fame after he questioned then-presidential-candidate Barack Obama about tax increases at a campaign rally. Both Obama and McCain referred to Wurzelbacher...

Joe the Plumber is set to crash John McCain's reunion with Sarah Palin. Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher, who recently said McCain "screwed my life up," is slated to appear along with J.D. Hayworth at an anti-tax rally in Phoenix on Friday. Meanwhile in Tucson, McCain will reunite at a rally with the former Alaska governor. Wurzelbacher has made it clear he has a bone to pick with the 2008 GOP presidential ticket. "McCain was trying to use me," he said in a radio interview last month. "I happened to be the face of middle Americans. It was a ploy."

The Online Tax Revolt is easy. While sitting at home, I'm marching with Joe the Plumber. You can see the march online [link coming up]. I heard Neil Boortz talking about this last Friday. It's compelling. You get to choose one of many leaders. Some are choosing Reagan. Others choose Boortz. You just give your name, zip, and email. I've been assured that the email remains anonymous. [Some people use their freep names, etc.] This is a revolution in activism. DC can lie about their emails, their calls, their letters -- they can even lie about how large a physical...

The last few days have me once again at the center of a lot of talk. This time, it’s not what I asked candidate Obama or what he said back to me. But it is because I again said exactly what was on mind and some people have now rather gleefully seen my words as a stumble on the national stage. Maybe so–or maybe it’s another step toward honesty that only looks like a stumble to those who think every word must be scrubbed for effect and the political advantage of those “behind the curtain”. For those who missed it,...

Where does this fit in the great hierarchy of authenticity politics? Sarahcuda may be the most salt-of-the-earth pol on the American landscape but she’s also an internationally famous celebrity and multimillionaire. Surely a blue-collar Joe who’s been known to fix toilets outranks her. Does that mean she’s now been formally excommunicated from the church of “true conservatism” — as I suspected — or did yesterday’s NASCAR appearance imbue her with some sort of impregnable authenticity forcefield? More importantly, does this mean Meggie Mac was right? Wurzelbacher touched on several different points during his speech, and many of them were surprising....

Joe the Plumber became a household name during Sen. John McCain's 2008 campaign, but now the man also known as Sam Wurzelbacher has harsh words for the former Republican presidential candidate. "I don't owe him s---," Wurzelbacher said about McCain over the weekend. "He really screwed my life up is how I look at it." Wurzelbacher made the comments at a campaign event for state Republicans in Pennsylvania, according to radio reporter Scott Detrow "McCain was trying to use me," Wurzelbacher said. Joe the Plumber is biting the hand that vaulted him into national prominence. "I don’t owe him s—. "McCain was trying to use me. I happened to be the face of middle Americans. Joe the Plumber is no longer a fan of either Sarah Palin or John McCain, it seems. Joe, also known as Sam Wurzelbacher, told an audience in Pennsylvania this week that McCain "is no public servant." "McCain was trying to use me," Wurzelbacher said, according to public radio correspondent Scott Detrow. "I happened to be the face of middle Americans. It was a ploy.” "I don’t owe him s—," Wurzelbacher continued. "He really screwed my life up, is how I look at it.”

Remember Joe the Plumber? He was the blue-collar dude who confronted Barack Obama late in the 2008 campaign with this challenge: "Your new tax plan's going to tax me more, isn't it?" Nonsense, replied the candidate: "From 250 [thousand dollars a year] down, your taxes are going to stay the same." Indeed, he insisted, 95 percent of "working people" would see their taxes go down in his administration. Well, think again. A year into his presidency, Obama now says he's "agnostic" on what was the principal plank in his economic platform: No tax hikes for individuals making $200,000 a year...

CALEDONIA - Education isn't just for your children - it's for you too, Samuel "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher told a frozen but enthusiastic crowd Saturday. The setting for the latest Tea Party - this one dubbed the Tea Party Bonfire - was Wendell Anderson's farm on Highway H. Despite cold, damp winter weather, organizers reported from the stage that they'd counted more than 3,000 heads. The event jammed Highway H for about a mile in each direction; other participants were shuttled to and from the event on yellow school buses from Caledonia-Mount Pleasant Park. People were still arriving at 3:55...

CALEDONIA - Joe the Plumber, the man who became the face of the average American during the 2008 presidential campaign, is coming to Racine County on Saturday. The Ohio man, whose full name is Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, has gone by Joe since he "came out of the womb," he said in a phone interview last week. But he didn't become nationally known as "Joe the Plumber" until he asked President Barack Obama a question about taxes on the campaign trail and his new nickname was later mentioned multiple times in a televised debate between Obama and Sen. John McCain. Now,...

He also called President Obama's ideology "un-American."...

Brett A. Gerke, 52, of 2329 Woodcreek Place on the Far North Side, is charged with attempted unauthorized use of property. Will media that savaged Joe the plumber now go after the fake doctor? When regular citizen "Joe the Plumber" asked an innocent, heartfelt, but challenging question of presidential candidate Barack Obama last year, he ended up getting skewered by the "mainstream" media. Every detail of his past was looked at for possible motives and nefarious associations. Democratic state officials in Ohio even thumbed through his records illegally to find dirt on him. That somehow doesn't happen with liberals. A woman at Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee's town hall meeting in Texas recently claimed to be a pediatrician and stood up to...

Few of President Obama’s 2008 campaign pledges were more definitive than his vow that anyone making less than $250,000 a year “will not see their taxes increase by a single dime” if he was elected. And he was right, very strictly speaking: It’s going to be many, many, many billions of dimes.

“The president and the vice president are great men, Liza. They did the right thing to invite us there to talk, but it's up to us now to extend this conversation. HOLLAND, Ohio (Reuters) - "Joe the Plumber," who came to symbolize U.S. taxpayer frustration during last year's election, sounds even angrier now at what he sees as excessive government spending on the economy and healthcare reform. "The politicians in Washington are spending trillions of dollars of our money. When are Americans going to stand up and say enough is enough?" said Joe Wurzelbacher, 35, in an interview on Friday at his modest suburban Ohio home. "Instead of spending more of our money, they should cut back like ordinary Americans are having to. Why do they think they can spend their...

Meghan McCain: Joe the Plumber "Is a Dumbass"McCain daughter blasts man who has become GOP mouthpiece By XANA O'NEILL Updated 8:30 AM EDT, Thu, Jul 16, 2009 Meghan McCain ripped into the man who rose to stardom during her father's failed presidential bid as a "dumbass" who should stick to his day job. "Joe the Plumber -- you can quote me -- is a dumbass," she told Out.com. "He should stick to plumbing." During an interview with gay rights magazine Out, the daughter of former presidential candidate John McCain, a same-sex marriage advocate, blasted Ohio plumber Samuel Wurzelbacher, who said...

"Does it sound campy to say I love gay men?” asks Meghan McCain, sipping an iced tea at the nouveau-chic Hotel Palomar in Washington, D.C.’s Dupont Circle. Campy or not, the lovesick McCain has been ubiquitous this year, sallying forth on late-night TV -- Larry King Live, The Colbert Report, The Rachel Maddow Show -- to scold the Republican establishment for its social conservatism and stump for gay marriage. “If two people fall in love, they should have the option to get married just like I can,” she told Stephen Colbert, pointing out the inherent hypocrisy of a party that...

Joe the Plumber is hitting the streets to speak at tea parties and help citizens take America back this Independence Day weekend. He told WND his suspicions about the next president came true, but Obama isn't the only person he blames. "I don't go around talking about President Obama too often because it tends to draw a line for people. I blame Congress ultimately for everything that is going badly," he said. "Obama just got in there. But that being said, I don't care for how he is conducting our foreign affairs. It worries me. He's also pushing a lot...

Things are not going as planned for the Obama administration. The millions of new jobs President Obama guaranteed have not materialized. Furthermore, the gazillion dollars of "stimulus money" Congress gave the President as a gift to spend however his fancy leads him somehow isn't actually finding its way into the economy. New York Times columnist Paul Krugman says the problem is we aren't spending ever more money that we don't have. Obviously we need more money. But where are we going to get it? I think I know. Forbes just published its list of the 100 "most powerful" (not necessarily...
