(ORLANDO, Fla.) -- Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., is defying criticism from Republicans and fellow Democrats for comparing the Tea Party to the KKK, saying he is “calling them out on their hate” and that it “needs to be done.” Grayson ramped up his attack on the Tea Party after he was rebuked by Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Steve Israel as well as from the GOP. But Grayson was unapologetic. “I’m calling them out for their hate,” Grayson said. “That’s not wrong. That needs to be done. It’s the only way to end it.” He also went a step further...

Just days after comparing the tea party to the Ku Klux Klan, Florida’s most-outspoken Democratic Congressman, Alan Grayson, addressed the state party faithful Saturday and likened some Republicans to Confederate flag-waving “bigots.” Grayson made his comments during a mock reading of a fake Republican Party agenda in which he suggested conservatives were also gay marriage-bashing gun nuts. “At 8:30 a.m., the morning breakout sessions,” Grayson said, reading the made-up GOP agenda. “Ballroom A: the bigots. Ballroom B: the paranoids. And Ballroom C, the largest group of all: the gullible.” The speech, largely applauded by the attendees of the Florida Democratic...

The Ku Klux Klan was formed as a social club by a group of Confederate Army veterans in Pulaski, Tennessee in the winter of 1865-66. The group adopted the name Ku Klux Klan from the Greek word "kyklos," meaning circle, and the English word clan. In the summer of 1867, the Klan became the "Invisible Empire of the South" at a convention in Nashville, Tennessee attended by delegates from former Confederate states. The group was presided over General Nathan Bedford Forrest, who is believed to have been the first Grand Wizard -- the title for the head of the organization.

Samuel "Joe The Plumber" Wurzelbacher, the conservative activist and failed Ohio congressional candidate who rose to prominence after he had a campaign trail confrontation with President Barack Obama before his election in 2008, posted a tweet Friday accusing Democrats of having "a history of lynching Black Americans." Wurzelbacher's tweet was accompanied by a picture showing the word Democrat with the final "T" replaced by an image of a burning cross. The burning cross photo came from The Black Sphere, a site run by a conservative African-American writer named Kevin Jackson, who originally published the picture as a response to comments...

Joe Wurzelbacher, aka Joe the Plumber, has a few choice words for “America’s Sweetheart”, Megyn Kelly. It all started when Politico’s Roger Simon published a blog entitled, “Government Shutdown Unleashes Racism”. Simon based his article on a piece that was supposedly written by Joe called,“ America Needs a White Republican President”. The only problem? Joe did not write the piece; he only posted the aggregated version on his website. The real author is Kevin Jackson of The Black Sphere who, by the way, just happens to be black. Kevin provided a satirical and relevant look at how the policies of...

Megyn Kelly – I eagerly await your apology, retraction, whatever you want to call it, regarding the libelous insinuations you made last night (Tuesday, Oct 15) against Joe (“Joe the Plumber”) Wurzelbacher’s “bizarre” (your word) article about electing a “White Republican”. As I’m sure you probably now know, the column you sloppily referenced and misrepresented as Joe W.’s work was, in fact, a tongue-in-cheek piece written by a BLACK conservative, which Joe W. merely included on his news/opinion website. He didn’t write it. Your clear, snarky implication that he was guilty of racism is slander — again, a BLACK conservative...

Megyn Kelly so wants to be the moderate in that lineup that she couldn’t even get to the end of the first page of a post on my website before she rushed on the air to scream RACISM!! Like a little spoiled liberal, with no research into the matter, no call to the author, no knowledge of who the author even is and no conservative credentials to be making such claims in the first place, Ms. Kelly is getting her centrist slot off to a rousing start and should be receiving invites to all the right upper east-side mainstream media...

Dear Patriots. Though apprehensive upon hearing Obama tell Joe the Plumber that he wanted to spread the wealth around, I understand America’s extremely emotional response to electing its first black president. White America naively thought, finally, we can never be called a racist nation again. My 100 year old black grandmother wept. Never in her wildest dreams could she imagine a colored man sitting in the president’s chair in the Oval Office. But little did America realize that the beautiful articulate shiny golden black man that they opened the gates of our country and housed in the White House was...

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Joe the Plumber isn't Joe the Congressman. Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher (WUR'-zuhl-bahk-kur) lost his bid Tuesday for a U.S. House seat in northern Ohio. Veteran Democrat Marcy Kaptur beat the Republican in his first attempt to win public office.

The third definition of "patriot" in the Oxford English Dictionary is "A person actively opposing enemy forces occupying his or her country; a member of a resistance movement, a freedom fighter. Originally used of those who opposed and fought the British in the American War of Independence." The term first was used in the U.S. by Benjamin Franklin in a 1773 letter. It referred to people who stood in opposition of those pledged to the British Crown -- the Tories aka loyalists. On Oct. 7, 1780, American patriots prevailed against loyalists in the Carolinas and won their first Southern...

The most significant moment of the 2008 election cycle was the interview of Joe Biden by little-known reporter, Barbara West. The exchange took place following the “Joe the Plumber” incident, the now historic Obama photo-op-gone-wrong during which Sam Wurzelbacher was told by candidate Obama that we in America should “spread the wealth around.” West asked Joe Biden: “You may recognize this famous quote, ‘From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs.’ That’s from Karl Marx. How is Senator Obama not being a Marxist if he wants to spread the wealth around?” Vice-Presidential candidate Biden asked if...

Joe the Plumber recently resurfaced in the news. It reminded me of something that occurred to me when he originally became a national figure. As you know, his full name is Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher. Most of us know people who have gone by their middle names. Some of you here probably go by your middle names. Three presidents went by their middle names: Stephen Grover Cleveland, Thomas Woodrow Wilson, and John Calvin Coolidge. And of course, Willard Mitt Romney is a presidential candidate. However, we've had media folks and others saying "His name's not Joe! It's Samuel!" I'm not a...

Samuel Wurzelbacher, the conservative activist popularly known as “Joe the Plumber,” is circulating a letter praising President Barack Obama‘s life story and crediting Christianity with his “miraculous” ascent to the presidency. Wurzelbacher is the Republican congressional candidate challenging longtime Ohio Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur. He gained national fame during the 2008 election after he challenged Obama on tax policy during a campaign stop. The letter, provided to The Daily Caller, strikes a respectful tone, at one point saying that Obama “came to Christ and he is my brother.” Fringe Obama opponents often claim that the president is secretly a Muslim....

You may recall that when Joe Wurzelbacher was approached by Barack Obama entirely accidentally, he became something of a political celebrity for having a philosophical disagreement with the president over spreading the wealth around and all that. Before long, the mainstream press went to battle stations to discredit the man. He didn’t even have a plumber’s license! (didn’t need one in Ohio). He had financial problems! He was a fraud! An astroturf plant! Blah blah blah. The Democrats, likewise, were unrestrained in their efforts to ridicule the man. Here’s Joe Biden ridiculing Wurzelbacher (and offering a tendentious argument about...

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Joe the Plumber is plunging into politics because he thinks it's about time America had a few mechanics, bricklayers and, yes, plumbers in Congress. Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher was thrust into the political spotlight after questioning Barack Obama about his economic policies during the 2008 presidential campaign. He officially launched his campaign for Congress in Ohio on Tuesday night.

Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, better known as "Joe the Plumber," has formed a congressional campaign committee and filed a statement of candicacy, according to the Federal Election Commission's website. The filing for "Joe for Congress 2012" was just submitted on Friday, and the scanned file does not yet appear on the FEC's site, and went without notice, to my knowledge, until a couple of hours ago. The statement of candidacy isn't online yet, but it lists Wurzelbacher in Ohio's Ninth District, which has been held by Democrat Marcia Kaptur since 1983. Wurzelbacher floated the idea he might challenge Kaptur in 2010,...

Joe Wurzelbacher, better known as Joe the Plumber, is considering a run against U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur in 2012, according to Republican Party sources. Jon Stainbrook, chairman of the Lucas County Republican Party, said there is "high-level interest in the national Republican Party" in a potential Wurzelbacher candidacy. "We are encouraging Joe to run," Mr. Stainbrook said. "He hasn't made any official decision yet." Chris Maloney, spokesman for the Ohio Republican Party, said a candidate like Mr. Wurzelbacher would have strong fund-raising capabilities thanks to national recognition he received during the 2008 presidential campaign, but added such star power would...
