Rep. Mahoney drops out of debate over TV presence

The managers of the debate should take the approach of the late
great George Putnam, a broadcaster in Los Angeles.

When one prominent person under public pressure ditched an appearance
on Putnam's TV talk show, Putnam put an empty chair on the set
and proceeded to "interview" his not-present guest.

This is a golden opportunity for the Repubican challenger to
ask the most d-mning questions and mention the worst of Mahoney's
record. With the only response of silence.

As they say "Silence advises consent".

Murtha stiffed Russell in PA on a debate. Paul Kaj did the same think to Repub Lou Barletta in PA. I think this is three pickups for the GOP. Rooney will win, Lou may win in PA and Russell also may win. All three Dems are slimes and have scandals.

Mahoney serial adulterer, Murtha is being sued by Marines and calls his constituents racists, Paul Kaj was in the top 7 or 8 of Fannie Mae cronies.

He’s a Democrat. Has this materially affected his standing in the polls yet?

Yes. This race (FL-16) was already competitive. But a recent, post-scandal poll showed Mahoney trailing 55-29%. This seat is now the GOP's best pick-up opportunity.

Well, at least the Dem's can't play the "ethical" card any more. /sarc

Well, this sets up perfect for an SNL parody. Anxious to see it.

Yep, I'm holding my breath just waiting to see this ... [... crickets chirping ...]. It is only worthy of interest if it is the 'moral party' (GOP) that has the scandal.

I wonder if anybody has asked the local chapter of NOW about this, after all he all but pushed his paramour to prostitute herself for his benefit. They were so vigorous about that other prominent politico right? You remember their attacks on Clinton ... /sarc

Only Republicans are held accountable because they dare to espouse beliefs in family values.

Democrats get a pass because they don’t believe in tradition values. And, of course, the media hearts them.

Tim Mahoney is toast. He’s a dead man walking right now.

Congrats to new Rep. Tom Rooney! Another good conservative in the house, and a bright spot in an otherwise very bad year for the GOP.

Not much of a debate if it’s not televised. He was juts looking for an excuse to not show his sorry mug. I hope his constituents are taking note of how brave their slimy Congressman really is.

I had no idea it was a Rooney running for the seat...

which brings me to another point....is there a really good site to keep up on congressinal races?....I have supported several pubs and I would love to know how they are doing without having to go thru the prez or senate races, etc...

would this be a pick-up then?...no pun intended...

There is more news constantly leaking out about what a scum-bag this guy was yet the MSM just ignores juicy scandal - because he isn't GOP? I know, I know, I answered my own question.

Just remember - if Obambi wins in two weeks, and the Democommies lock the House and the Senate, we will be able to change the acronym 'MSM' to 'GM' - the Government Media.

Hell - we're there NOW.

If two people have a debate and no one sees it, is it an actual debate or is it just a conversation or possibly an argument.

Just resign

How quickly the media forgets - FOLEY DID RESIGN before the election but too late to replaced on the ballot. Given the back-story, it appears that this was a well-laid trap for the GOP to have a poster-child scandal for the MSM and Dems to hit them with. This was a known story for months in advance but the MSM waited to get the maximum bang just before the election.

Now Mahoney waits out the election ax to get maximum government benefits. The MSM ignore him as best they can (Except ABC) and "The Most Ethical Congress" works its smoke and mirrors on Fannie & Freddie!

If two people have a debate and no one sees it ...

It was one thing before the technology existed. the Lincoln-Douglas Debates of the 1858 Senatorial Campaign started out being covered state-wide in Illinois but quickly became reported nationally. It is hard to believe today but the formats of these 7 debates were long, 3 hours with 1st @ 60 mins, 2nd @ 90 mins and 1st @ 30 min rejoinder.

So yes, debates were done before TV and were worthwhile. Today, with TV minute bytes as chosen by MSM, I begin to wonder if Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt would have made the cut?
