The Register's articles can't be linked from here, but you can find it on the web site Real Clear Politics.
Isn’t it the ethanol matter that plagues him in Iowa? No amount of campaigning can overcome that.
The visits baffle me, too.
Either McCain is the stupidest politician on earth, or he knows something the media pollsters don’t.
Why are they baffled?
Maybe McCain knows something they don’t. I have been calling into Iowa for almost two weeks and hunters are worried about Obama. That seems to be their #1 concern — 2nd amendment.
Here’s a trick to get around their stupid linking requirements:
I have been calling into Iowa for two weeks for McCain into western Iowa BTW, and ethanol very seldom comes up — it is the 2nd amendment, death tax, and redistribution of wealth that affects farmers and ranchers.

They are baffled because they want McCain to lose, period.
Obama has a radio ad running here that says he will protect people’s Second Amendment rights. No kidding.
My guess is the McCain statisticians have discovered a method for extracting the Bradley effect from polling data. Theoretically I don't think it would be that difficult if you spent a few days on it.
It may be because of spending controls that he goes to IA in a frantic bid to save MO from the temptation of Oprah’s Obama. The American people, in their lack of wisdom, are about to commit hari-kari.
He’s here in my town - Waterloo, Iowa - tomorrow morning; Meet the Press is even broadcasting live from here. There’s an active ground game here too. But I don’t know if he has a real chance or not.

McCain must have some good internal polling up there..
IMO, this is increasingly looking like the potential for a 269-269 tie.. I’m hoping McCain’s efforts in Maine’s 2nd CD have paid off. We may need it.
“Why are they baffled?”
Bush is more unpopular in Iowa than nationwide, and McCain’s opposition to the Ethonol program is a liability.
I have been calling into the western part of the state and getting a good response. I was shocked when the coordinator asked several of us to change to calling into Iowa.
It could be that his visits to PA are trouble too. He could just be in denial now even if things look as bleak on his internal polling as they do in public polling, who knows.
I’m a firm believer in every vote should be fought for, why should we just hand a state to Obama, let the SOB work for it.
