StarTribune Endorses Norm Coleman (somewhere, pigs are flying and money is growing on trees)
Minneapolis RedStar ^ | October 26, 2008 | RedStar Editorial Board

Count this newspaper among the Minnesota voices that long for a lessening of partisan polarization and a return to constructive problem-solving in Washington. If demonization of the partisan opposition continues to be the political coin of this realm, effectiveness of American democracy will be diminished.

Independent judgment, exercised on behalf of the best interests of the country and state, is what we hope to see from our U.S. senators. With that hope in mind, this newspaper recommends the reelection of Republican U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman.

. . .

Coleman didn't begin his Senate service as an agent of bipartisanship. But that's the note on which he wound up his six-year term and which he has sounded repeatedly in his reelection campaign. We like the trend we've seen and believe Coleman is capable of taking it further.

Of course, they cite reasons which make Norm a weak GOP Senator, but this his huge, huge news. And it shows how dispicable Al Franken is if he can't get even the Red Star's endorsement.

Bizarre. Look for the Twin Cities libs to denounce this endorsement.

This is a huge surprise. One of the few endorsements that may make a difference.

I am torn, part of me wants Franken in the Senate because, he has the reverse midas effect, anything he touches turns to shite..and a Senator Franken would be a one way ticket to Defeat for the Democrats in 2010—2012 and 2016 and beyond. Then again, I love my nation, my children and understand that while I would feel much joy watching Franken kill the dems from within, I understand the risks.

Viva Norm..

(somewhere, pigs are flying and money is growing on trees)

That would be Congress where pigs fly (first class) and (our) money grows on (their) trees.

LOL! Too true. Franken would be a major buffoon but somehow they can hang around in the senate for a lifetime.

What is weird is someone here posted a week ago or so that they were going to bring Obama back to Madison, WI. The poster here on FR said it was weird if Obama did not have Madison locked down then what about the rest of the state. This could be bullish fro McCain in WS and maybe MN as well.

Donate, volunteer & GOTV.

People in MN are just so liberal that any liberal candidate appeals to them.

Occam razor?....I think that's the term....

sometimes freepers, we think too much about a situation...

the only solid and right thing we can do is to vote McCain and any other Pub.....

thinking that Franken or hussein voted in would somehow makes things better in the long run is simply foolish and not reality...

this rat party is not the party of our parents....its a leftist mob of fascists who will stop at nothing ....

we must do our duty NOW...
