Ron Howard For Obama: Although not particularly funny (like the Mac-PC commercials) or substantive (like the Mac-PC commercials) this celebrity endorsement is sort of amazing.
Evidently, he already has Honer Simpson's endorsement.
Honer - Homer
Agreed! Add to that singers, and I haven’t got much left in the way of entertainment! That’s OK, tho. It makes me appreciate the ones who ARE conservative sooo much more.
We were up-north for a couple of days, and had only a couple of TV channels to watch, which meant it was crap like “Entertainment Tonight” or nothing. (Yeah, nothing is a better choice...) They showed parts of the Andy & Opie video on successive evenings — essentially a free campaign ad for Obama.
As I watched, a couple of things stood out. 1) It was a rather poorly done chroma key job for a Hollywood director, and 2) the people of Mayberry would be most likely be McCain-votin’ clingers to their religion and guns, not Obamabics!
Yeah, I waited JUST for Opie to decide I would now vote for Barry.....
Ron and Henry have never given money to republicans according to http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/Ron_Howard.php
they seemed earnest and honest in the commercial but they were all lying
I’m a huge movie fan and DVD collector. I can’t completely avoid leftist actors, but most of my American DVDs are pre-1965. I know there are a few commie screenwriters in there, but it actually gives me a sense of guilty pleasure that back then even commies had to write films that were patriotic, or at least inoffensive.
Out of all my DVDs (well over a thousand) I don’t have a single film featuring Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, or any that goon squad. It doesn’t bother me if an actor is just a generic Democrat, or even something of a bleeding heart who has fallen for the global warming crap or believes we need more welfare handouts. I can write that off to someone simply being dumb, which maybe they can’t help. But when they rant and rave against America or our armed forces, that’s over the line. Ditto for destruction of our social fabric with Obama worship.
I do own the Lord of the Rings trilogy, which has at least one vile cast member (Gandolf the Gay). But there’s also a conservative cast member and the film itself is a wonderful conservative tale. I sort of get a kick out of seeing old Ian having to play an obviously moral character in a story conceived by devout Christian Tolkien.
For most modern films I stick to Asia! They actually sneak some anti-Communist films out of China on occasion. Those directors have real guts, unlike our posturing phonies like Oliver Stone and Brian de Palma.
As for Opie, he should be called Dopie. Aunt Bea should have kicked his ass back in ‘64.
Funny or Die?
So, was it funny?
Another one or two are anti-American war idiots.
How do they reconcile acting as warriors in a fictional war of good against evil?
No, he would have arrested him. You are 100% correct.

I think it’s time for Barney Fife to take that one bullet out of his pocket...
LOL!!
Up to 1997 (the year of the Hong Kong handover), there was all sorts of criticism of the Communist mainland and looming handhover. I haven't seen many of the more recent films (past decade).
In 1998 we lost our Chinese theater and laser disc went away (no more screenings or rentals).
I haven't sought out DVD rentals, the A-list actors and directors shifted towards Hollywood (although the films of John Woo, Tsui Hark, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, et al) were much better when they were made in HK without crappy Caliphony (or even Canada) concessions on plot and casting.
They probably aren’t smart enough to recognize the contradiction. Plus, they weren’t yet big stars when they signed on for their roles in the LOR trilogy, so the paycheck and the chance to appear in a career-enhancing blockbuster made them forget about their alleged principles. It may also be that they weren’t all that leftist until they became big stars as a result of the LOR films. Once these guys start making big money and start being treated like royalty, they seem to often track leftward.
That’s in the sequel. Ron Howard and Obama go to Aunt Bee’s grave and Obama commands they roll back the stone and for Aunt Bee to rise.
I liked Andy.. that is sad they used him like that.
