TAMARAC - Tamarac Actor Jason Alexander, the son of a Coconut Creek Democrat, came here this morning to tell a crowd of mostly elderly Democrats what they should say to persuade undecided voters to choose Barack Obama.

Alexander, better known as George Costanza from TV's Seinfeld sitcom, spoke to more than 100 residents of the Kings Point community. He said he does not like the role of celebrity spokesman, but he felt compelled to actively support Obama.

"I would kick myself if this election went the wrong way, and I didn't do everything in my power to make sure it didn't," Alexander, 59, said after his speech. "It [the race] is still too close. "I've gotten a disproportionate amount of resistance to Barack from older Democrats," he added. "It's very interesting."

In the last few weeks, with the David Zucker movie, I have heard a few Republicans and Conservatives in Hollywood discuss that matter you mentioned. One person said he and a like-minded person had to use code during a meeting because liberals punish those who don’t fall in line with their ideology.

The presidential campaign “about nothing?”

I wish. That campaign is about royally screwing this country. I have, in lighter moments, amused myself with the notion that the candidate would simply be content to be president and would stick to a Clintonian path (post '94) in which he mostly stayed in the general vicinity of the middle in order to position himself for the next presidential race. Then I realize that it took a GOP controlled Congress to force Clinton to the center and that the candidate's history is all about advancing hard left politics, no matter the venue. I guess the upside is that after a year or two of the Marxist who happens to be African-America, the country will overwhelmingly reject his party and himself. But that's enough time for permanent damage to be done. There is the possibility that he and his fellow comrades in the Congress would so damage his party's brand would be damaged for a generation.

“BTW, what is it about being in showbiz that makes you 99% likely to be a lib anyway?”

You usually don’t get anywhere if you’re not one.

They trade in make believe. And by 'they', I mean both showbiz and libs.

You’re assuming that Comrades Obama, Pelosi and Reid do not outlaw the Republican party and all members thereof before 2010.

Let’s hope he brings “shrinkage” to Obama’s vote tally...

Coconut Creek, Boca Raton, Tamarac, Margate, and Delray Beach are as likely to go Republican as I am of bedding Scarlett Johanssen tonight. Jason is merely preaching to the converted.

It was better when they were not “in your face” with the Left politics, but just concentrated on giving a good performance. I’m sure there were plenty of Hollywood cranks out there in the ‘30’s and ‘40’s, but the studios managed to keep them “focused” on acting....

Shhh! Don't give them any ideas! The old Commies had to stay somewhat under wraps, but had far more influence on the public by seeming to be "patriotic" Americans. Kirk Douglas comes to mind.

I have a theory on this.

Hollywood types make their living creating and projecting a fantasy world where everything from what is said on screen, down to how a person in a scene is supposed open a door, is predestined and followed very closely. Their success depends on how well they follow and act out a script written by someone more interested in entertainment value than being true to life. Most actors will tell you that when filming a movie, or practicing lines, that they will work over 12 hours a day for months at a time. That's alot of time to be spending completely immersed in a world where their every word and action is dictated to them by a director following a script. The successful ones do this very well. The successful ones also, more often than not, favor politicians who are control freaks who advocate centralized control over various aspects of daily life. This is not a coincidence.

Just my theory.

I remember seeing him on Bill Maher’s show once. He was really just another vile and arrogant leftist. No surprise there.

With President Obama, we will have a Marxist with a veto-proof, filibuster-proof Supreme Soviet (currently known as Congress;) three Supreme Court nominees from the ultra-Left, the whole concept of checks and balances will be meaningless (unless you include the Army as a “check”). Somebody should remind these folks to remember Stalin, and that “it” CAN happen here!

The public stage(egoism)and the perception that money/celiberaty affords you the right to spout off your opinions.

You are quite right about that, so it seems. Living in Hollywood, you get to know some rwc’s in the “biz” and they do indeed, use “codes” for fear of reprisals. Heard of putting up 4 fingers to signify “F.O.R” or the “Friends of Ronnie (Reagan)” in the Hollywood industry?

I’ve had to cancel all my magazine subscriptions. Can’t watch any movies or television even Happy Days reruns.

I’m down listening to Hank Jr. all day all night. :-)
