Doesn’t matter much. This is an election year for Ted. Palin’s pick would only be there for a couple months. This probably hands the seat to the Democrats.

Backup plan for Gov. Palin.
If McCain loses the election and Stevens wins the Senate.
Stevens could then resign and Gov. Palin could appoint herself to the Senate.
Just something to think about.
All the media needed to revive the “culture of corruption” narrative...just in time for the election.
Of course, Sarah Palin gets no credit for fighting corruption in Alaska. NONE.

WASHINGTON — Jurors in Sen. Ted Stevens’ corruption trial passed a note with “a potential verdict” to a federal judge Monday, a courthouse spokesman said.
What good is that if the election is next week?
I remember him picking his nose and telling the House managers there would be no real Impeachment trial.

At this late date, I assume he remains on the ballot. Hopefully he wins, resigns, and is replaced by a pick from VP-Elect Palin!

The guy was found guilty on all counts. Come on...
If you look at the perfect set of dominoes that had to fall this year in order to give Obama the presidency and a complicit Congress, there’s only one conclusion:

There’s essentially five critical news cycles left....you tell me what it will be filled with? Stevens, longest serving Republican Senator, guilty on all COUNTS.

Much as I like Sarah, that really would not be right at all. Even if a Democrat were to do it someday, you just can't appoint yourself to a Senate seat.

Stevens won his primary and his dem opponent will most likely be elected.

He asked for the timing, so you can’t blame that on the Hate Media or Democrats. Arrogant and stupid on his part, unless there really has been a gross miscarriage of justice (I doubt it).
