Franken said he is not a hunter, but went hunting for the first time last year with U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson of western Minnesota.As noted in my tagline, the second amendment has NOTHING to do with hunting. It has a lot more to do with securing the other aspects of the constitution and its amendments.

My standard is the loaded unlocked AR-15 I keep in the corner. If a candidate’s voting history and rhetoric agree with it, fair enough.

Anytime a politician starts mentioning hunting when the subject of the 2nd Amendment comes up, I automatically tune them out. It's obvious at that point that they do not understand the 2nd Amendment. Unfortunately, even many Republicans do this.
That's why I liked Fred Thompson the best. When he wanted to tout his 2nd Amendment creds during the primary, he visited gun shows and gun stores. He understands what it's all about.
