He’s probably trying to get us to brace ourselves for the possibility of The One actually winning.

I well remember the utter shock, horror and dismay when us conservatives were so soundly trounced in the last election, while most of Free Republic assured us “the election’s in the bag, the GOP will win handily, the polls are all wrong.”

I believed what they were saying, the polls turned out to be correct, and we were utterly decimated.

The pattern is repeating itself again...the polls are telling us Obama’s going to trounce us, and Freepers are saying McCain’s gonna win.

I don’t want to blithely believe them again, only to wake up under a Obama Soviet Socialist Republic the next morning, so if there are anti-pollyanna posts telling us to brace ourselves, I say...let them post.

I agree. I don't know how they ever figure out who is trustworthy. Look at that turncoat Scott McClellan.

The fact that she worked at CBS with Couric is a bit suspect. At the very least, the fact that she set Palin up with an interview with Couric right out of the box makes me question her judgment. None of us would have scheduled Palin with Couric at that time.

My very high level anonymous sources within the Obama campaign all say they know they are going to lose by double digits. They say there have even been fistfights breaking out on a regular basis and they are having an extremely hard time not committing suicide. They say there is serious tension among Barry and his wife, and they are considering filing for separation. My anonymous, deep inside sources also say that Barry is thinking of getting an apartment with Larry Sinclair.ok... two can play this game.

You are right Ed. In 2006, a lot of the Bush loving contingent here told us all was well. This continued right up to the hour when we lost our shorts on election night. Then they blamed us for the defeat afterward, saying we didn't vote. In my district the GOP pulled the money out when their hand picked Rino was defeated by a real conservative in the primary. They actually let a liberal Democrat feminist ditz win the congressional seat in a majority Republican district. They might not beat her this year with a Rino candidate on the ballot. The guy running against her vows to “reach across the aisle.” Swell. That inspires confidence.

So now we have nominated another Rino for president who we all have been to hold our noses and vote for. Sarah Palin is the best thing he has going for him and he has all but hidden her, or fed her to the sharks in edited interviews.

We are always told that Rino’s are the bomb, and that they will attract scads of Democrats and Indy's in the general election. So we nominate them. Then they proceed to act just like Democrats and the people choose the genuine article.

I'll sadly do the deed again and hold my nose. And we'll probably have the same type of election night as when the Rino’s nominated Bob Dole and told us he was “electable.” After that he sold Viagra on TV and played the anonymous comic on American Express commercials.

The Bush/McCain contingent go nuts if we question their crappy president and candidate. I'm going to be three for three voting for these two dreks, but I'm supposed to kiss them too? That's my pre-election vent. Now it's off to vote straight GOP again. Very sad.

There’s no reason to be demoralized. I think the polls are wrong, and we won’t know until election day. One week away, it does not make sense to get demoralized.

Wow, what a right-on post!

How sad about the betrayal of all those conservatives in elections both primary and general when the GOP pulls its support, preferring a liberal they can deal and schmooze with to a real conservative GOP candidate.

Thanks for the reply, I totally agree with you.

I say, let the Obama supporters think that McCain/Palin campaign is in trouble with strife in the campaign.. the Obama supporters will see this and go YAHOOO and think Obama is going to win .. so they will just stay home.

Let’s see - a few days ago the Politico blog wrote a story with an imaginary unnamed source who allegedly said that Palin has gone “Rogue.” The following day this is incorporated into the Obama staff talking points and issued to the Media outlets, who then embellish this into an imaginary divide-and-conquer war between McCain and Palin.

If there’s any schism between candidates I would say it’s between the Obama and Biden staffs. After Biden “went Rogue” and claimed that the U.S. would be subject to an attack by foreign countries if Obama were elected, Obama took the extraordinary step of calling a press conference to minimize the damage of Biden’s “rhetorical flourishes.” Further after Biden is in over his head in the Barbara West interview, the Obama staff takes another extraordinary step by forbidding Biden to have any further interviews in anything other than the most controlled circumstances. My sense is that the Obama staffers are coming down hard on the Biden staffers. Why else would flunkies like Stephenopoulis be going to such extremes as in this article?

Well put.

We basically have Pravda in America. This is part of a “narrative” that the MSM wants to tell. Don’t confuse them with the facts. They want to portray Obama as confident and victorious while contrasting this with the McCain/Palin camp being in disarray.

They won’t mention the Obama socialism tape. They won’t mention the other information about Obama that has surfaced in the last few days. They won’t mention the polls that have McCain within striking distance.

This is all being done to demoralize those of us who know what is at stake. Don’t give into them. This election is very winnable for John McCain. Don’t ever give up.
