Toby Keith Wooed By Sarah Palin, Says 'that Don't Make Me A Bad Guy'
CJTW ^ | 10/28/08 | Steve Hubbard

Just as his latest CD "That Don't Make Me A Bad Guy" hits store shelves today, Toby Keith tells People magazine he'll be voting Republican come November 4th, solely because of Vice-Presidential contender Sarah Palin. "I think she is the best thing in politics at that level I've ever seen. I hate politicians, and she's as far from one as you can get. She's a mother, she's a human being. And I can sympathize with her. She went from being an unknown governor to being on the cover of every magazine." Believe it or not, Keith is a longtime Democrat, who says he's now registered to vote as an independent.

"That Don't Make Me A Bad Guy" is the second album in a row Keith has produced himself. The first single, "She Never Cried In Front Of Me", currently sits atop the Billboard country chart. Toby's next release will be "God Love Her" and he's already made a video, his first one in a year and a half.

"She Never Cried In Front Of Me" is Keith's 24th Number One.

Keith has sold more than 25 million records in this decade alone.

You are absolutely correct. His father was a very good, God fearing, flag waving veteran, conservative Democrat. Above all, however, he was a hard working HONEST man, who demanded the same of his kids. His Dad flew the American flag every day, rain or shine. I can understand why “Hurricane Sarah” appeals to him.

His family is like a lot Democrat Oklahomans. They cannot understand what has happened to their party. I can’t either.

Believe what you want, but Keith never said he was voting for Obama. Get over it, indeed.

http://www.cmt.com/news/country-music/1596198/toby-keith-registering-as-independent-voter.jhtml

Keith also cited erroneous headlines and reports in the media indicating that he supports Democrat Barack Obama.

“I said that he had a chance to win it as the [party’s] best candidate since Bill Clinton,” Keith said. “I said McCain is very able to run this country, too. Very qualified. ... They didn’t put anything about McCain and Palin. They just put that Toby Keith supports Obama.”

Keith said the Democratic party no longer represents his views.

“I’ve been a lifetime Democrat, and I’m re-registering this year as an independent,” he said. “It’s strictly [because] my party, that I’ve been affiliated with all these years, doesn’t stand for anything that I stand for anymore. They’ve lost any sensibility that they had, and they’ve allowed all the kooks in, so I’m going independent.”

Heck of a song-writer.

I agree - him and Phil Vassar.

Well well, Toby was for Obama before he was against Obama.

Our Sarah has that effect on people.

Is he a fool?
He didn’t vote for Kerry, but he’s voting for Obama?

With all due respect, and I know how hard it is to deal with life long friends on this; you have to stand your ground. Don't go cower in the corner when someone like that starts spouting the hatred.

I'm not saying respond in kind, just be firm in your convictions, and/or at the very least, ask them not to bring up the subject in your house while they're YOUR guest.

In auto’s defense, Toby did say months ago, that thus far he was voting for “O”, but it seems Sarah gave him better reasons to vote for McCain/Palin. Thank God!

“FYI...Toby Keith is voting for Obama...”

I was all prepared to call you a troll.

Then I looked at your start up date, and thought, “damn, that’s a long time for a troll.”

Then hit Yahoo and looked around, and damn if Keith doesn’t praise Obama to no end in multiple articles.

A reminder that all entertainers need to “shut up and sing.”

(Oh, I will never buy or listen to anything Keith puts out again.)

When he endorsed Obama he must have been drinking the beer for his horses.

Clean out your ears, he was on Fox ‘n Friends on a Saturday morning. Toby Keith stated he was voting for Obama. I was stunned that he would back Obama after singing about patriotism. Sorry if you don’t believe me; but it’s apparent now to me that Toby Keith talks out of both sides of his mouth.

Patrick I wouldn't trust Huffing and puffington post. They HATE Toby, have since the scuffle with Dixie Chicks. In fact they supported the DC in their attacks of him, and he just laughed at them, which made them even madder.

LOL, I might believe that his fan base might have let him know that he may not be able to afford any beer for his horses, like real soon if he doesn’t buck up!

Its actually easy. You just smile and say, hey, you're talking to the wrong guy(girl)... I love Sarah. Say it sweetly with a smile and it puts it back on her.

I was talking to a black preacher some time back who went off on a rant about Condoleeza... I don't agree with everything she ever did but his attack was uncalled for... I said with a smile, hey I love that lady, she's one of the smartest people out there... it caught him completely by surprise and he started backpedaling right away. I just kept smiling. In his world he never imagined anyone actually liked her. And probably in Dalton's world she never imagined anyone normal likes Sarah. Its the opposite of course, normal people are drawn to her, they recognize her as a kindred spirit. Not perfect, but good and decent.

I dare you to say that to his face! Toby's about 6'6”-—a hell of a BIG guy! He was a walk-on for the Sooners. (He'd probably agree with you, though, about that picture! LOL!)

That’s more or less the gist of my point. However you do it. But it can be hard to deal with a good life long friends on such matters. Lessor arguments have broken up such relationships before.
