Did The "Chicago Way" Work for Obama in Hawaii?
Right Side News ^ | October 27, 2008 | Joan Swirsky

As I speculated in a recent article, Obama had a dual purpose in leaving his campaign for Hawaii. And whaddaya know? His plane had barely touched down from his trip to Honolulu - ostensibly to visit his ailing granny - when the Republican governor of the Aloha State, Linda Lingle, placed his birth certificate under seal, directed the state's Department of Health to bar access of the document to the press, and declared that the only people eligible to obtain it were the person born or someone acting on his behalf, a relative, or a legal guardian.

So did Obama request the document, the better to resolve the question of his eligibility to be president? With less than a week to go before the election - and with attorney Philip J. Berg's lawsuit questioning that eligibility on the way to the Supreme Court - we still haven't seen Obama's birth certificate!

The peculiar events of the last week leave more questions than answers.

If Lingle sealed Obama's birth certificate, then there is indeed a record of his birth in Hawaii. But as The Obama Nation author Jerome Corsi writes, there is still no answer about "whether the original document...was a hospital-generated birth certificate or a registration of birth that may have been filed subsequent to the birth." In other words, we still don't know if Obama was born in Hawaii or on foreign soil.

It is a technicality but apparently at technicality that scares Obama out of being open and honest with his birth certificate and other withheld government and school records.

If he just gave out the information, as John McCain did with his Panama City birth certificate (to US NAVY Parents), no one would be asking the questions.

What is BO hiding? Must be Big.

O’s trip to Hawaii stinks to high heaven. How is granny? Why no follow up about her health? Where are the pictures taken by the people with O? Who were the people with O?
Just crazy.

Here is what he could never become after 143 days of experience: District Manager at McDonald's, Chief of Surgery, Superintendent of Schools, a Colonel in the Army,

A Colonel? You can't become a first lieutenant in 143 duty days. The time has not been less than 365 days in a long long time. I think it was a year for the Army during Vietnam, it was 18 months for the Air Force. But by the time I was commissioned, '73, it was 2 years for all the services. That's at least 479 duty days.( 30 days leave/year and figuring only 5 days per week of duty, but of course that's the absolute minimum, often exceeded)

The other problem is that if he was not born in Hawaii, but instead Kenya as his relatives there seem to assert, he would normally also be a US born citizen because of his mother’s status.

However, that is not true either because she did not maintain US residency for ten years when she moved to Indonesia. This was the law of the United States at the time.

Barack may have assumed he was a US citizen all his life until he started researching these technicalities.

Indeed, why did he travel to Pakistan in 1981 on an Indonesian passport?

(It was against the law in 1981 for US citizens to travel to Pakistan, btw.)

All this is very very strange.

"If my grandmother was on her last legs I would have taken my wife and children. He did not. Strange!!!"

He could dispel all the rumors by being forthright. But when has he ever done so. I don't see some great conspiracy. Just a little lying politician that doesn't want the electorate to know what he is really all about. That is reason enough to keep him out of The White House.

Will he during his “Truman Show” broadcast make a comment that what we need today is Unity and a well traveled world Messiah is what America says no matter what the slimers say. Heck they might even say I was born on Mars...Ha Ha Ha!

My father told me today that a local talk radio guy in Syracuse thinks Obama will win, be declared ineligible because he’s not a natural born citizen and the electors will choose Hillary. Let’s hope McCain makes this a moot point.

Interesting theory. Might explain Bill Clinton bothering to campaign in PA tomorrow for BHO.

Sometimes my job requires that I have access to secure and sensitive areas. Last year some new rule mandated I provide my birth certificate. I did so. Nothing to hide here.

When I was an Individual Mobilization Augmentee AF reservist, I was required to keep a copy of not only my birth certificate, but those of my children, and a copy of my marriage certificate in my "Go to War" packet. Mine is still in there. The others have since been pressed into other services. College admission, new employment, etc.

In the past two weeks, I have investigated and obtained death certificates for relatives, for genealogical purposes, and it cost but a small fee. Several months ago I did the same for a birth certificate (person still living). The questions asked were simple and easy to answer. I tried this with Obama … come up with “name unknown”?

A certified copy of a vital record (birth, death, marriage, or divorce certificate) is issued only to an applicant who has a direct and tangible interest in the record. The following persons are considered to have such an interest:

* a person having a common ancestor with the registrant (e.g., a sibling, grandparent, aunt/uncle, or cousin);

I think I just realized why Obama went to HI to visit his granny. He wanted to make sure that granny didn't sign a request to give a copy of his BC to someone outside of his family. At least that's my theory.

That wasn’t cunning, Lingle. Whatcha doing?

Her order is redundant. It simply confirms what Hawaiian law already mandates. To the extent it makes news, it simply calls attention to the matter. LOL!

Lingle introduced Sarah Palin at the convention, you will recall.

How is granny anyway? I thought she was on her death bed?

Apparently not. But she may have been convinced to continue to keep mum about the circumstances of his gestation and birth. She has to know, assuming she still has her faculties, which is fairly likely.

Grannies rarely, if ever, die of a broken hip. She was released and sent home. Doesn't sound like she's critical as Obammy is hyping it up to be. He must have had some other business over there....hmmmm.

Flew his big ole 757 at a cost of 150,000 or more.

If he's got enough money to put out commercials for preschoolers and lower elementary students, he's not worried about the cost of flying to Hawaii to make sure his birth and adoption records *stay* sealed. One or two less showings of his commercials.

See you in Supreme Court for a 2000 election year nightmare

Much worse, and since the "race card" has already been played to the hilt, the reactions "in the streets" will be much, much worse. If that is the way it all goes down.

Does anybody know what the actual protocol is for a president-elect to prove he/she meets the constitutional requirements to take the oath of office? Who’s in charge of ensuring those requirements are met? The Chief Justice of SCOTUS who does the swearing in?

You've got that slightly confused. The law at the time required that the US Citizen parent have been a resident in the US for at least 10 years prior to the birth, 5 of which had to be after the age of 14. His mother was barely 18 when he was born. If that was in Kenya, he was not a citizen at birth, although eligible for naturalization. Doesn't matter what the parent does or where they live *after* the birth. The requirements are different now, less years are required, but that was the law at the time.

Obama wants the conspiracy theorists to get all worked up, the Media will dutifully play it up, then he’ll spring the birth certificate to show what loons they are.

Someone should pay Obama's brother in the hut $20 (doubling his annual income) to request the certificate.
