"The Next First Family: Q&A with the Obamas"
Parents Magazine ^ | Nov. 2008 | Hickey/Lawler

Posted on 10/30/2008 9:44:28 AM PDT by newbeenew

In the new Parents' Magazine, the Obamas answer questions on a variety of parent-related topics.

Q. What about the role of religion in their lives? Do they go to church?

Barack: You know, we've been so busy that we haven't been to church together much recently. We've been visiting a lot of churches.

Michelle: We view going to church as a family activity. So the girls don't go unless we all go, and we've been traveling so much lately.

Q. Do they go to Sunday school?

Michelle: No. We view weekends as family time, so if they're off somewhere part of the day, we're not together.

Barack: What we do is teach them about values and faith and religion in the context of family life.

Michelle: We believe in prayer. We all take turns saying grace before dinner. It isn't any designated prayer; we encourage them to pray from their hearts about what they're thankful for. So we do that, then we all click glasses and say, "Cheerios!"

Most people click their glasses and say “Cheers”.

The Obamas click their grasses and say “Cheerios”.

Oh, well, he can always have his girls do breakfast cereal oommercials after he loses this election.

"Now girls, remember, true faith is what bitter people cling to. It's sort of like opium for religious people."

And don’t we already know enough about the Obama’s “religion” from the Rev. Wright?

These people should be run out of business for this horrific example of “journalism”, with their “Dewey defeats Truman” story and headline.

So we do that, then we all click glasses and say, "Cheerios!"

And if these two socialists get their hands on the American economy, Cheerios will be all we'll be able to afford.

Now that’s something we can toast to.

There’s an interview w/Cindy McCain in same issue, though article’s about kids and they don’t show hers. Photo is mostly of a window. Does have moving story of her mercy mission for baby Bridget (and another baby) though.

Why, when Obama talks about religion, am I reminded of John Kerry holding a rifle?

When we say Grace in our family, it always ends with “Amen”.

I wonder if the article includes anything about ensuring your child’s formative years are influenced by your radical terrorist neighbors, Bill Ayer and his wife; the wisdom of choosing your friends wisely, ie. Rashid Khalidi; knowing who your best buddies are: the President of Iran, Castro, Chavez. What unique parenting style these two have!

Parents magazine: another gift to NOT give at any future baby showers!!!!

I thought faith was something very personal between oneself and God? My mother would be mad if I skipped church just because she had to travel...
