We're getting nowhere demanding the LA Times release the Obama tape, and we won't get anywhere, because they have a perfect excuse for not releasing it: journalistic integrity. They claim they promised the source they wouldn't release the tape, and to do so now would compromise their ethics.
But there is a way they can "release the tape" without violating their ethics. They can release a full transcript.
No, it wouldn't have the same impact as releasing the actual tape, but they also have no excuse (to hide behind) for not releasing a full transcript immediatly.
They have already reported on the contents of the tape. They can't come back now and claim they promised not to report on the tapes contents.
Demand the LA Times print A COMPLETE TRANSCRIPT of the tape in this Sundays edition of the newspaper. Remove the excuse they have been hiding behind, and see what they do.
Could they leave something out of the transcript? Sure, but these things have a way of getting out eventually. Some day the actual tape will come to light. At that time there will be a lot of egg on some reporter's face should they manage to incorrectly transcribe the tape. Even the LA Times would think twice about altering a transcript.
crookec tyrantical creeps don’t need an excuse to do whatever they want to do. Cancel your subscriptions, and small businesses stop stocking their papers!
If the LA Times has a copy of the tape, who has the original?
That’s what I want to know.
A picture is worth a thousand words. A tape is worth a million dollars...............
just have and a woman who answered for Russ Stanton just kept saying read their statement
when I kept saying release the transcript please she put the phone down on me by transferring, of course I called back and it is clear the LA times is covering up now
They will not answer any questions
we just have to keep calling up and bombard their paper plus explain why they are losing sales .
Because people want the news not propaganda and see we don’t have a free media anymore
ask them why they sent people to alaska to find crap on palin but they won’t look in thier own desk drawer
we have to keep the pressure on them and demand for a free press not a media which is a mouth piece for one person
This is not an issue to be pursuing now. There is enough audio/video available on topics that are more consequential.
This is getting worse than the COLB garbage.
What an incredibly inane thing for this bunch of socialist creeps to say. They wouldn't recognize "journalistic integrity" if it bit them.
here is the number I called and got a right pissed off arrogant woman who answers for Russ Staunton
please call
1 213 237 6728
Hit the LA times where it hurts: Publicize a boycott of all the business that advertise in the LA Times. If the LA times doesn’t want to report news, let’s put them out of business. The day they close their doors is a victory for democracy
The tape is necessary, a picture is worth a thousand words...all right
No way do I trust LAT to do an honest transcript.
I called and asked why they won’t
the answer of the pissed off woman was read our statement
when I pressed further and asked well why would you receive a tape if you have no intention of ever showing it?
why would someone give you a tape when they don’t want you to show it?
why did you not mention back in April that you would never show the tap?
why did you not mention two days ago about protecting the source and you only mentioned it yesterday when the heat came on?
do you really expect us to believe you about protecting your source and would you have a problem doing this to a republican?
Infact you did do this to help obama before, why what is different now?
The answer I got was read our statement
good luck and keep the pressure on
Let’s think about this. Perhaps this tape carries greater political importance unseen. No one reputable has viewed the tape. We don’t know what it shows and don’t know the tape’s quality. Also, the tape might now be edited. If the tape does get released and is a dud, it makes the conservatives look kooky and like this whole issue becomes a big fuss about nothing.
So, all the noise is good noise about media covering up for Obama. The noise draws attention to the LA Times’ biased reporting, and further reinforces public perception that media will do anything to get Obama elected.
But, am not so sure we really want the tape released. We might regret it.
The LAT lied in its article about the tape. They cannot release a transcript proving that they lied.
To the contrary we are getting somewhere with LA Times stonewalling the tape-—
1. The News media is being forced to report the stonewalling. Even the LAT has had to issue new reports such as this one-—
McCain, Palin demand L.A. Times release Obama video
Los Angeles Times, CA - 45 minutes ago
Editors at The Times and the reporter who wrote an article in April about Obama’s connection to the Palestinian scholar, Rashid Khalidi, said they were ...
2. The News Media is even reporting when Palin or McCain are NOT demanding the release of the tape-— Such as this one-—
Palin draws big crowd in Mo.
Chicago Sun-Times, United States - 1 hour ago
... but did not make reference to Obama’s past associations with ‘60s-era radical Bill Ayers or Palestinian-American professor Rashid Khalidi, who has been ...
And while you are at it-—vote on the AOL poll and email your friends to do likewise-—
here are the poll questions:
What do you think of the McCain camps criticism of Barack Obamas ties to Rashid Khalidi?
It seems valid 55%
It seems overblown 41%
Not sure 4%
Total Votes: 55,483
Note on Poll Results
Obamas rivals have questioned his ties to several people. How much have the controversies affected your view of him?
A lot 51%
Not at all 40%
A little 9%
Total Votes: 55,055
we just have to keep calling up and bombard their paper plus explain why they are losing sales .
Because people want the news not propaganda and see we dont have a free media anymore
post the phone number you called so others can do the same
