McCain to Appear on Saturday Night Live this Weekend (11/1)
MSNBC (live announcement) | October31, 2008 | Me

MSNBC cable news just had an announcement up with the newsanchor saying that "McCain is to appear on SNL this weekend."

They did't expand on it further than that.

Can’t hurt if the script is right.

What a dumb move. As if SNL has ever been good for the Republicans. More proof on why he will lose this election. What a dummy!

That has been said plenty, please tell us how it hurt Palin?

Agreed.

He's getting too desperate. I don't see any upside to this.

Not necessarily. Palin did a brilliant job. She also ‘killed Fey with kindness’ - which works well, sometimes, with the enemy. JMO

Sarah Palin did fine on SNL. It was the show’s best ratings since Nancy Kerrigan hosted wayyyyyyyyy back in the Spring of 1994. Lorne Michaels has donated to McCain in the past and McCain hosted in 2002; he will do just fine tomorrow night.

The negativity clouding FR lately is starting to become tiresome, isn’t it?

With the right script, it could be great... if they sand bag McCain, then he will get the sympathy vote a la Hillary... should be no lose as long as he is as good as he was when he was on SNL a few years ago and sang the best of Striesand....

Does anyone have a link for that performance by McCain; he sang a medley of Babs’ greatest and it was hilarious because it skewered her beautifully.

He’ll come across as a nice guy at least, which may demotivate some of the lazier liberals from voting.

I was kind of hoping for an October surprise of McCain with a copy of that tape from the LA times though.

Good for him. It sure beats Obama going on John Stewarts show (Daily News)...

Can’t hurt - but they don’t deserve the ratings. I don’t think they should oblige NBC or any of its affiliates.

I don’t think so. It didn’t hurt Palin. Both Palin and McCain have a sense of humor and their naturalness with themselves and others is apparent in spite of SNL. Obama, by contrast, is very thin-skinned and that shows as well. Can you imagine him really laughing at himself?

Hope he gets to do another naked shower scene with Amy Poehler! (Actually, she had a baby last week so I doubt it...)

You have to get through a few secs of Chrissy Matthews, but you will see that McCain can really act! Oh my gosh! I had to watch it 3x to believe it was even him.

Actually McCain was on SNL earlier this year, I believe. That video is from 2002. I forget what he did for his cameo earlier this year, but it was something about being older than dirt or similar. It was during the cold opening, before they say “Live From New York....”

Lorne Michaels wants and needs a McCain win. Obama’s dull, dull, and DULL.

Can’t hurt if the script is right.

How about something like this? "Cindy didn't really want me to come on your show tonight, but she said as long as I ask my opponent to FINALLY show Americans his Birth Certificate before Monday night, she gave in....So here goes....Heh, yo, BO, how 'bout a BC, chump????"
