Live from Tallahassee!

After a 6 hour drive, the first face I saw was the lovely and effervescent Vivivan C. Always smiling, such

a sweet cheerful spirit, she is a proud member of the National Black Republicans.


She greets everyone with an incredible, infectious smile. You can't feel down or unhappy in her presence!

Day One

I was paired off with Anthony C. to canvas a neighborhood. We were assigned nearly 100

homes to visit. I was surprised to learn that Anthony had traveled from his home in Leeds, England at his
own expense to work for the McCain / Palin campaign.



We hit off immediately! I served in England in the
the 70s. We talked about current conditions in the UK, the immigrant problems they are facing and unresponsive
government. Anthony said he was moved by Sarah's acceptance speech. He felt such a deep
connection, that he knew he had to do all he could to help her win the race. He said he saw a lot of Maggie
Thatcher in her.

The area we canvased is beautiful! Large homes with well kept lawns, flower gardens, Spanish moss draped
trees line the streets and birds sign nonstop.



Not being familiar with Tallahassee, Anthony and I got
lost looking for area, but enjoyed the sights all the same. We knocked on about 20 doors before calling it
a day. We would pickup where we left off in the morning.

Day Two

By 10:30 am the phone bank was in pull swing. Volunteers call from a list to remind folks of the importance of voting!



Of course it is Halloween so kids visited begging for a treat. They were decked out on all sorts of cute

costumes. I particularly liked the 5 foot tall banana. Ha!



Anthony and I hit the road to finish up our assignment. We finished by 5pm. Many folks were not at home,
of course, they are Republicans, so they work! Of all the folks we met, two ladies stand out. One is a
stay home mother of 4 home schooled kids. She wanted documentation of Obama's contacts and associations.

I gave her Free Republic's web address and told her where to look for links. She said she has
several family members who are undecided between Obama and McCain. She needed documentation to prove
to them the stories about Obama were not smears.

The other lady said she was of sick of all the campaigning. She wants a law limiting campaigning to 90 days
before election day. I almost agree with her. We found a few democrats who were voting for McCain and lots of folks who are voting only because of Sarah Palin!


Sitting in an office for hours making phones calls stinks. I little football tossing loosens up stiff
muscles and realigns attitudes.

At the end of the day, the phone bank was still in full force.


Day Three

Time to hit the shower and hit the road! Things are looking better for McCain all the time!

VOTE!

That is the only poll that matters. Don't let the media hype keep you away from the polls on election day!

Today we will be manning the early vote site in our county. In the past weeks we have spent several afternoons knocking on doors, waving signs, and manning the phone bank.

Just a few more days to get out and pound the pavement against socialism. Let's roll!

We saw several people out by 27 between Havana and Tallahassee with McCain signs. Beautiful site! I plan on going in to Havana’s Republican headquarters on Monday.
