I had an Obama Supporter Come to My House...

I just finished a nice chat with an Obama supporter looking to get out the vote. He asked me who I was voting for - and looking like he was ready to come up with a compelling argument why I should vote for Obama.

I told him that is between me and the voting booth. He was taken aback. I've heard of how they can be confrontational and I wasn't going to play their game.

I thanked him for coming.

If you do get an Obama supporter coming to your door or calling your phone, treat them with kindness and respect. It disarms them and they won't resort to "getting in your face".

good point. another good idea I heard was to engage the Obama supporter and let them do their pitch. keep them there for 20 minutes or more! the less time they have to go talk to others.

I’ve let them give me their entire spiel on the phone and when they’re done I tell them I’m voting for McCain.

Would you be kind and respectful to a child rapist? Hint.. Libs are worse. That's right, bad as a child rapist is.. libs are worse. Why wouldn't you want an Obama supporter to get in your face? That means you get to put him down and call the police.

I’d waste their time and get into a big argument with them if I was feeling truly malevolent that day.

I’m more interested in why anyone would support Obama myself and would ask them questions about what they support the one.

Good info to use should the O, god forbid, become prez so we can win people back to our side when he inevitably becomes a failure.

I would suggest the following strategy (this is what I do with those who would deign to knock on my door out of professed concern for my soul):

1. Get them into a lingering, drawn-out conversation about irrelevant minutiae of the campaign.
   
   
2. Keep it up until you just can't take it any more
   
   
3. Shut them down by announcing to them that having a serious discussion with them has helped you make up your mind, and
   
   
4. Tell them that you're voting McCain-Palin.

Rise, tell them that you hope they have a nice day, and escort them to the door.

If we all did that, the attrition rate among 0bama door-to-door canvassers would be quite high, as it's demoralizing to anybody except those who have sold vacuum cleaners to go through this again and again and again...

It also wastes their time and saves others from 0bamabot annoyance.

I would also suggest that you hand them a packet of Kool-Aid because they are going to need it on Wednesday and it’s going to be very hard to find in the stores.

You should answer the door wearing a shirt with "Go Sarah!" written on it, a straw hat with a McCain/Palin bumper sticker, and carry a penant saying "NObama".

Then tell them you're undecided!
