For McCain supporters, it can be a rough town - Ann Arbor
Ann Arbor News ^ | 11-1-08 | Tom Gantert

In a decidedly Democratic town awash in a sea of Barack Obama political signs, William Wedemeyer knows he is going against the political grain with the McCain-Palin sign he proudly displays on the front lawn of his Ann Arbor home.

Still, Wedemeyer was taken aback when he recently received a package in the mail addressed to "Joe Six Pack'' and containing a couple of bags of dog feces. He said he'd like a few minutes alone with whoever sent it.

"I'd like to have a five-minute talk about First Amendment rights,'' said Wedemeyer, who lives on the 1000 block of South Main Street. "It borders on a hate crime.''

Wedemeyer reported the incident to the Postal Inspection Service. An inspector said they are investigating and that mailing injurious material is a felony punishable by up to a year in prison.

Wedemeyer said he learned the package was mailed from the post office on Stadium Boulevard and that the person paid for the postage with a credit card. Wedemeyer said when credit cards are used, photos are taken of the individuals mailing the package. The Postal Inspection Service wouldn't comment on specifics of the investigation.

Where's the tolerance? Now the good news is that just north of the city, where the addresses still say "Ann Arbor" on them, you'll find a lot of McCain/Palin signs, and even a larger number of "Vote no on 2" signs. I live in a 50/50 community within this deep blue county, so that's a good sign seeing this.

We won't win Washtenaw County, but maybe we can decrease the big margins coming out of the cities of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

I live just outside of Washtenaw county in Jackson county. Actually I was surprised at the number of pro Walberg signs and lack of pro Obama signs over by Chelsea.

Only pure, yellow belly cowards send thing like that in the mail. The ONE thing everyone must remember and never forget, is that even if McCain wins, this country is awash in communist, leftists, socialists, abortionists, homosexuals, lazies, has beens, never was’, and such that will continue this onslaught of propaganda. Then the illegal vote will start to get registered and start voting. We, as conservatives, are in a minority. We are the few, the proud to be conservatives, that will continue to be in the minority. Even if we win this election, the next one is going to be just as dirty, just as nasty. The national elections have turned citizen against citizen. We are indeed two countries now. One based on Marxism and one based on conservative values and a belief in All Mighty God.

“dog feces in a bag...”

how appropriate; dog feces in a bag sent by walking dog feces, anonymously.

(scu&bags in action)

IMHO

About 90 minutes. Hillsdale is about a half hour from Jackson.

Maybe not so anonymously, if they have the credit card and a photograph. I think a year might be appropriate...

Here in Jackson county Mi. the democrat sheriff candidate says he’ll bring “Change” to the office. Pay no attention to the fact that his son is in the county jail awaiting trial on murder and attempted murder charges.

WOW, one would think that Hillsdale and the collage would have some influence in that area.

Chelsea’s an interesting area. There’s the country populist area similar to much of Jackson or Pinckney, Jeff Daniels and his crew, and the Ann Arbor transplants. It’s blue, but not as bad as parts of Dexter (Village, not township) or Ann Arbor.

The First Amendment is a negative right. If Hussein is elected it will be the first one to go so that there will be no reporting when he does away with the 2nd and the bloodbath that ensues.

I recently spoke with a Conservative Nurse from A-squared. Scared $h!+Less of Obamacare....

One growth industry in Michigan?

Canadians coming over to get their bodies fixed instead of their socialized medicine which doesn't do squat.

Darn overpaid fools in "A-Squared" do not realize they will cook their own goose.

Should be easy enough to find them if they used a credit card and had their picture taken. It would certainly be worth the time & money it would take to run them down.I’d make a HUGE deal out of it. Good luck!

Ann Arbor is right up there alongside Berkeley as far as lefty looney-tune communities go.

Chelsea is relatively wealthy and above Obama’s ever falling wealth threshold despite being fairly liberal.

Dumb@ss used a CC? I'm willing to bet whoever did that used their own personal card. Hopefully they'll be spending some time in a federal pound-it-in-the-*** prison.

Not when there's the City College of New York West aka University of Michigan dominating everything.

There are some strong conservative Catholic influences in the area, but not nearly as dominant as U-M, NOW, or the Green Groups.

Ann Arbor is just a different kind of place. Now it's a relatively safe place compared to most Michigan cities of similar size, and takes good care of its old buildings and character. I still wouldn't want to live there.
