Prayers for Obama’s young daughters, this is always hard on young children and I'm sure the stress of all that is going on plus this is difficult.

I am not so sure they were that close. But it makes me wonder why the heck Obama didnt spend more than an hour with her and where were the wife and kids!
To: dragnet2
Sean Hannity just announced it on his show...he was quite respectful...and I hope we will all be the same.
Rest in peace Mrs. Dunham...and prayers for Sen Obama family.

How sad. May she rest in eternal peace.
I’m so sorry that her grandson who owed her so much didn’t feel it was necessary to spend more than an hour with her near her end. As a loving grandmother I know she forgave his lapse.
To: dragnet2
Is this the grandmother he called a “racist?”

CNN reporting she died from cancer. I hadn’t heard she had cancer.
To: dragnet2
I’m sure she died proud of her grandson - all the pictures of them together were loving and charming. My prayers for Obama and his family.

I hope someone who loved her was with her. May she rest in peace.
Now, vote McCain-Palin!

Is this the grandmother he called a racist?
Yes. She served one purpose in life and she'll serve another in death.

Yes. She served one purpose in life and she'll serve another in death. Actually, I don't think he called her a racist. He called her a "typical white" person with respect to fearing other races.

It is thought that they have never met Grandma. Which is very strange.

Sad news.
The question now is, can Obama handle the strains of a difficult presidential transition and grieve for his grandmother at the same time? I doubt it.
He should withdraw his candidacy and spend the next several weeks where he belongs, with his family.

Fox is stating she died of cancer. I didn’t know she had cancer, I thought she had fallen down and broken a hip, or their was complications due to a fall.

My sympathy to the family. But I doubt if he will get sympathy votes out of this.

“I am not so sure they were that close. But it makes me wonder why the heck Obama didnt spend more than an hour with her and where were the wife and kids!”
Really none of our business.
Family relations are not always what people looking from the outside think they should be.
I dislike Obama’s socialist policies, not the amount of time that he or his family spent with a dying relative.

For God’s sake, people! Show some class!
I don’t care what you think of HIM, but that is beyond LOW to attach political meaning to his grandmother’s death!
How DARE you!
(And you can check the day I joined FR. I’ve been here a while. After this, I’m not sure I WANT to be associated with some of you!)

“Wow, only 11 posts before someone implied she was murdered”
It was a crass commit but I don’t think murder was suggested, I took it as removal of life support, a common occurrence.

May God rest her soul. Sympathy to her family.
Partisan politics aside, that was tough, not knowing if her grandson had made it to the top job in the country.
To: dragnet2
It would be ridiculous if anyone were to cast a sympathy vote for Obama because of this. My theory is that for every sympathy vote, there will be another voter who compensates by NOT casting a sympathy vote. (Actually, it would have made more sense for someone to vote for BO to give the old lady one last thrill. Too late now.)

What is interesting here, is will Obama be immediately flying back to be with the family and make arrangements?

I’m sorry to hear of this. I don’t like to see older people pass away even if it is a part of life.
It’s also very sad that her last glimpse of her grandson may have been of him flipping off John McCain, like he did Hillary Clinton earlier this year.
