We (here in Colorado) have no conservative leadership. We had terrible candidates, no new ideas and we were completely out worked. The head of the Repub party was also running the Schaffer campaign. You can not do both jobs. If we get back on message and put together a true ground game the people of Colorado will come back.

We have alot of work to do, but solid conservative ideals will prevail in Colorado.

it’s the same thing that happened to Florida 30 years ago.

and now Virginia and North Carolina

instead of being from California, they came from the Northeast and Rustbelt and brought their same failed policies with them.

some of this is alas, just kids that have grown up....this where William Ayers folks really cleaned our clocks

Looks like Udall rode B. Hussein’s pony into office...

Thank goodness our congressman Trent Franks was returned, he voted against the bailout BTW and our very conservative local state senator was re-elected. I was sorry to see Marilyn Musgrave of CO was defeated... CO has gone way to enviro-liberal ... San Francisco of the Rockies....

George Soros announced he would spend whatever it took to turn CO blue, I sent the articles to friends in the SW corner of the state all summer long, I was so appalled by it..

The Udall’s winning really upsets me, it will have grave ramifications for the Colorado River and the dams on the river.. that and the new liberal congresswoman in Flagstaff who replaced Renzi.

Well 1) I don’t have kids, 2) This state has steadily been turning blue as more and more Californian’s escape their growing socialist paradise for our low taxes... MY district re-elected a conservative congressman and a very conservative state senator... OUR state has put in place very stringent anti-illegal immigration laws, California has an open-door policy for illegals... McCain carried AZ... but Soros spent millions here advertising to overthrow some very good state congressmen; he succeeded in CO this time, next time AZ will be even more firmly in his crosshairs.

Do not vacation in a blue state and don’t watch the msm. And that includes fox news.

Really rubbed our noses in it, didn’t he. I heard Wright was on stage. I don’t know because I couldn’t stomach watching it. But it looks like Obama said, “Srew you, McCain. He’s not just a man in my neighborhood and I’m still loyal to my pastor and you were too damned dumb to talk about it.”

A couple of things sunk Colorado for Republicans:

1). McCain saying that the Colorado River Water Treaty needed to be re-opened and renegotiated. In short, when the treaty was negotiated, everyone thought there was more water falling than there actually was, and Colorado is obligated to send a lot more downstream than the actual supply supports. Colorado doesn't get it's total annually, and yet has to send the agreed upon amount downstream. McCain said repeatedly that he wanted to reopen the treaty so that Arizona, California (and Mexico, which wasn't named, but which would have benefited) could get more of the (non-existent) water, which would have decimated Colorado's economy in no time flat.

State officials assail McCain's remarks on Colorado River Compact(^)

This put Republicans in Colorado in the position of having to publicly condemning McCain or suffer the wrath of voters.

Later, when McCain came to campaign here, he sorta/kinda tried to back away from his words, leaving a lot of confusion. Was he intent on wrecking the economy, or not?

Why McCain ever opened his mouth and said such a thing is a question for the ages: Arizona was never in doubt, California was never in reach. Maybe it's because he wanted to help Mexico. Who knows?

Many newspapers in the state said that he may have just cost himself the election in Colorado and other western states with his comments. Perhaps they were correct.

2). This: The Big Empty(^) from eightthirtyeight.com

Republican campaign offices were closed all over the state, as well as the nation, far in advance of the election.

That's no way to run a campaign. Period. It had a trickle-down effect that hurt races state-wide. I don't know what the voter totals look like; but it won't surprise me that even if the numbers are similar to the turnout in previous years, the same people we're voting. I personally know registered Republicans who said "it won't matter" and who didn't vote.

If people want to blame imported Californians, they are missing the point: the Republican party failed miserably in Colorado this year. They are so used to winning without effort, they didn't put any forth, and this is the result.
