You may be right. I do agree that politics have become a pit of hate that we need to crawl out of. We need to foster idealism and vision..
We will see whether Obama is just a standard liberal punk or a real menace to constitutional democracy. If the later, we may wish that all the mud in the world was flung.
Yet, CA is more liberal than ever. I’m sorry, you’ll just have to accept your states have gone left on their own accord. Obama only won CA by 2 million votes, so if millions of leftists from CA did infiltrate all these states, McCain would have won the state.
McCain didn’t lose because of that...it’s the economy stupid...that’s why. McCain didn’t counter the stock market collapse, and that cost him the election. I also believe Barone is right, there was definitely a housing market collapse protest vote tonight and it wasn’t pretty.
This theory that politics swings back and forth, and that eventually people will turn back to the conservative cause, is obviously all very true. Barry is on top at the moment, but being POTUS is a very hard job and eventually his popularity and standing will crumble. It may happen slowly (if he reneges on the ludicrous promises he’s made to get elected) or it may happen quickly (if he really believes in and tries to act on them) The problem is how much damage he’s going to do before we get that turnaround.

I would argue that Obama has won principally because he has fostered idealism and vision - you only have to look at the cheering masses out on the streets to see that. I think those ideals are flawed and the vision is distorted, and I don’t deny he got lucky with the credit crisis bursting mid campaign, but if conservativism (and certainly the GOP) is going to come back from this there is a need to energise people with a better “idea” than what the democrats have come up with. Could Sarah Palin do that in 2012? Possibly, but she is going to have to become a much smoother operator over the next four years.

Conservatives who vacation in CO should go to WY instead. That would get the eye of the CO officials and liberal voters. Tourism is really big there.
