yup you can’t win as a conservative by pandering to illegals, populists and feminists. Reagan won as a conservative because he actually was one.

Cross-voting (i.e. "reaching across the aisle", to quote McCain) in the primaries by the ACORN liberals is what go McCain into the race, he was coming in last among Conservatives...Rush, Laura, et al couldn't stop that no matter how hard they tried.

But, even though obama has been lifted up the pole, doesn't mean he'll be able to walk the wire...

Obama managed to get 500,000 more votes than Kerry did in Florida, and Senator McCain received about the same as President Bush in 2004, 3.9 million.

Obama also received far more votes than we have seen in any of the gubernatorial races, actually receiving almost twice as many votes as the 2006 Democrat gubernatorial candidate, and 80% of the sum of the two candidates in 2006.

The question has to be where did Obama find these voters? The county numbers should make for interesting reading.

I had a bad feeling yesterday morning. I own a construction company in Monroe County, Fl. The Florida Keys. I have 14 employees currently. I knew one employee, a guy that has a live in relationship with a female doctor, was an Obama fan, he and his live in partner, they are both Jewish. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, a few other employees were now sporting Obama bumper stickers. Yesterday, on the job site, everyone was in a grand mood. They had all voted by 7:30 AM, every last one of them for Obama....unanimous.
I’m feeling slightly ill about this whole thing this morning. Wonder how many will decide they deserve the day off today. While I am considered by them to be an extremely good guy to work for, I’ve got a feeling things are going to go south with my employee/employer relationship.
I’ve got thirty years in this business here. I talk regularly to dozens of other guys that are in business for themselves in some facet of the construction industry. Not a one of them voted Obama and there is a pervasive fear and gloom over the now realized prospect of an Obama presidency. Almost all of us in my circle of business associates/contacts are in my age group, I’m 55 and the majority of us are early 50’s-mid 60’s ages.
Without exception, all are thinking along the same lines....no intention for new hiring...no intention for new capital expenditures in equipment....It’s a hunker down, wait and see, let’s give it 6 months or a year mentality.
My compatriots in business here.......most of us have been in business for the same number of years as I.....30 years for me, 20-35 years for most everyone I know. We’ve been survivors, we’ve lived and worked through good and bad economic times. We are the ones that have always come out stronger on the other side of downturns.we have watched less qualified, marginal people and businesses go by the wayside.
But frankly.....we are worried......we don’t know that we will survive what is coming down the road now.
God help us all.

This is pretty twisted thinking. I wasn’t aware laws aginst killing could be viewed as gov’t intrusion in our lives.

I read on one thread here on FR, a post by a Freeper who owns a business, that they told their employees that any increase in taxes would require layoffs.

Set them straight from the get-go.

Honestly, last spring, I sat around the table with my work colleagues when Bear Stearns went under and stated that my gut told me that we were headed for something that had not been seen in our life time.

Tonight's election has only exacerbated that gut feeling.

There is a principle called "reaping and sowing" straight out of the scriptures.

I think that a lot of the smug 0bamamanics are entitled to that lesson in life.

Take care of your own first and good luck.

The open primary system in NH having all the M@$$holes come across the state line and vote for him, was more of a culprit IMHO. It is time for the GOP to have it's Vince Lombardi moment, "Gentlemen this is a football"......

Uh, this was first Prez loss since 1996. Clinton only got in in 1992 cause of Perot... It was the economy. Once it got so scary bad, there was little hope. The amazing thing is how close it was. Obama by all rights, considering we are on a financial precipice, should have had a landslide. That is small comfort, but some.

If you ask me, we sat back and said that Hillary’s voters would turn on Obama. In the end, they voted Democrat BECAUSE THEY ARE DEMOCRATS.

It was a Democrat Operation Chaos. Gotta love Hilldog.

Blacks are 16% of the population of Florida and up until this election only about half of them voted. The Obama campaign was here in Florida for months finding 600,000 of these people, registering them and making arrangements to get them to the polls. Those are the new voters. When the media said last night that McCain was underperforming in Hillsborough, Orange and Duval, that’s why. Those are swing counties that usually go red, but have large black populations.

I’m in that crucial I-4 corridor, the swing part of Florida that swung for Obama last night, the part of Florida that McCain HAD to win to win the state. I tried to tell people that Obama was registering blacks left and right and that the ground game here looked NOTHING like 2004, but was shouted down by Freepers in others states who were sure they knew more than I about what was going on in my state.

At least Amendment 2 (Defense of Marriage) passed. I collected signatures for it and sweated as it survived a court challenge. We’ll see how long it holds before a liberal Supreme Court shuts it down.

I’m shocked that Jacksonville (Duval Co.) was split 50/49 McCain. Like a reverse Bradley effect. I’m now looking around me wondering who voted for Obama but wouldn’t tell anybody. Bush won here in 2004 by 16%. I’m utterly sick.

Amendments in FL have to get 60% of the vote to pass. Amendment 2 got 62%. That means that a lot of Obama voters voted for Defense of Marriage. This is still a center-right country ideologically, even if scared people who are hurting economically (and FL has been very hard hit by the housing mess) do stupid things at the top of the ticket.

Laura Ingraham is RINO. She jumped on th FOX RINO bandwagon.

Charlie Crist is also a RINO who let felons vote and did not take ACORN seriously.
