WASHINGTON (AP) — Another state that hasn't voted for a Democrat for president in quite a while has done so this time.

The last time Indiana voted for a Democrat for president was when Lyndon Johnson was elected in 1964.

Please come down from the tree you’ve been living in. Palin is the only reason McCain got as many votes as he did. Moderates like yourself are just gutless.

They told me they did not really like Obama and they would have voted for McCain if he would have had a more experienced VP pick.

143 days in the Senate were more appealing? Are you freakin’ serious? Please this is utter nonsense. How anyone could sell out their principals on media fabrication is bullshit. The RINOS like you can leave once and for all. Enjoy your 20 years of Osama.

I think it came down to resources. 0bama campaigned here a lot; he had a strong organization and his ads saturated the media. McCain barely had a presence. I live in Hamilton County, very conservative and very republican. 0bama signs were everywhere. His organization contacted people who had voted democrat in the primaries and put signs in their yards. 0bama’s organization did this because they could; they had the money to spend on it.

To some extent, I think McCain didn’t have the resources to match 0bama. The huge differential in campaign funds available made all the difference in outcome.

Political offices are a commodity; you get as many as you can afford.

I’d like to know what, exactly, is “extremist” about Sarah Palin.

People showed up to vote whom we’ve never seen before because they never bothered to get out and do it. One neighbor had not voted for 20 years. Obama motivated them.

Also, I heard at one point that ACORN had registered 105 percent of the Indianapolis population.

Just sayin’.

You signed up today to say this - When you have to nominate an extremist like Palin to the ticket for “shoring up the base”, well, it shows how far we’ve drifted.

I call foul. Gov. Palin is an extremist, like you're a conservative.

This is the story in Indiana -

Mitch Daniels won by 500,000 votes.

McCain lost by 23,000 votes.

Republicans who split the tickets killed us.

In addition to all the other reasons mentioned, Indiana is NOTORIOUS in splitting ballots. While that in itself in not necessarily bad, the political contrast between Hussein and Mitch Daniels is 180 degrees. With that, Indiana voters should be laughed at.

No, Palin was the reason a lot of people voted for Obama. She was NOT the right choice for VP......I know several Dems and even a couple of Reps that were scared to death of Palin becoming President in the next couple of years. They told me they did not really like Obama and they would have voted for McCain if he would have had a more experienced VP pick.

Oh, please. I call foul again. I see the anti-Palin Obama supporters are out in force this morning.

Lake County decided to do a brother a favor and give him just enough for the win. What was it, 2:30 in the morning before it was called? The marggins in most of the counties were not all that different from 2008.

Sorry noob, you don't have a clue. But stick around and perhaps you'll see what conservative values are all about (hint: it's not how slick you are like Romney or Biden).

Easy killer, I see you are no veteran yourself. The fact is, we are going to have convert moderates like that very new poster to get a base that's big enough to win. He/she might not understand conservative values like life yet, but that takes time.

So they vote for the guy with less experience than her?!?

That's the most asinine thing I've ever heard.

Maybe so, but I heard the same thing from a few people in my lunch crowd. While purely antecdotal, I think it's unreasonable to dismiss this entirely out of hand.

Republicans who split the tickets killed us.

What really killed us was nominating a self-described maverick as the standard bearer and who actively campaigned against his own party. By doing that he alienated many Reps and hurt Reps down ticket.

Interestingly, when you look at the total numbers cast in 2008, I will be surprised if they exceed the number in 2004. Bush beat Kerry 62 mmillion to 59 million. As of now, Obama is beating McCain about 62 million to 55 million. I wonder how much more we will exceed the 121 million combined votes in 2004.

In 2004 in Indiana about 2.5 million votes were cast compared to 2.7 million in 2008. I think this turnout hype turned out to be just that. Obama was able to energize his voters, but the Reps did not.

You have to remember the media had Obama plastered on every station and essentially worshipped him, while Palin came on the scene late and was viciously attacked out of the gates.

Sadly, people don’t see the bias, and sadly they get all they know from politics from people like Herr Olbermeister.
