Maybe we should just all arm up and take Cuba. They could use the boost to their economy. Just need to flush out those commies (I mean the ones in Cuba of course, not the ones just elected here)

Well, it seems the histrionics are in full swing here at FR today.
I think this is the last post for a while until the adults come back tonight.
Here it goes:

America didn't elect a communist. They didn't endorse socialism. They don't hate America. They don't repudiate our values, traditions, or think this country isn't the greatest nation on earth. However, those that want to peel off Texas, do.

America voted on what they knew. They knew what the press told them. Which was nothing. They were bombarded with pro Obama news, ads, and commentary. He was presented as the next Johnson, FDR, Kennedy, etc. To African Americans he was the sign they could succeed all the way. He took away a deep sense of self doubt. To the rest, the uninformed, he wasn't Bush. He wasn't Republican. The mass of people think it was the Republicans that got us in this financial mess. They aren't on FR. They don't look into things the way Freepers do. Find an Obama supporter and ask basic questions. You will find they aren't Marxist/Socialists, they are uneducated and clueless.

Finally, to all those in despair, look at the ballot initiatives. In the bluest of blue California they added an amendment to ban gay marriage. In Florida and other states gay marriage and gay adoption failed.

So suck it up all Freepers. It is time to start educating our fellow citizens, not trying to take the ball and go home.

With all due respect, we have enough Californians here, thank you very much! That's how TX lost a lot of its redness in this election.

Just kidding---we can use all the conservatives we can get!

You can help us secede !

Never should have joined the Union. Now it’s too late, and it can’t be undone, sorry.

Yeah, sorry, I was just giving credit to the source of the image. The better sites are listed here:

An organization self-described as the Republic of Texas Interim Government asserts, among other things, that the annexation of Texas as a U.S. State was illegal and/or improperly executed, and that the current Texas State government is therefore illegitimate. Their website can be found at http://www.republic-of-texas.net.

Another organization of interest is Texas Constitution 2000, which calls on Texans to ratify a new constitution liberating Texas from the economic and statutory slavery of the U.S. government. Their website is http://www.tcrf.com.

The Independent Nation of Texas website features a FAQ page listing reasons why secession would be good for Texas, as well as links to multiple online resources pertaining to Texas secession, at http://www.anus.com/etc/texas/.

Actually much of the resistance to the border fence has happened in Texas. So much for your idea that Texas will secure its borders.

Well, Okies don't typically agree with Texans

Aww, come on now... You take too many of our high school football stars to disagree with us that much.:-) And let's face it, the two states claim to be rivals but there isn't a d*mn bit of difference between us (other than Texan superior looks and charm, of course). Just think what the People's Republic of Texoma would be like. Let us build our own Rome on the Red River!

It will be impossible to overcome the propaganda machine that will be assembled under the Obama administration. Between the fairness doctrine reimplementation and the blind worship of the remaining MSM, we don’t have a chance.

Better to pull out, let the place collapse, then come back and rebuild afterwards.

I’m sorry, but I do not view it as histrionics simply because some of us believe in protecting the freedoms and liberties this country was founded on which are now being threatened under an Obama administration.

It’s not a knee-jerk to a lost election, it’s called planning ahead. We can’t sit back and wait for it to all happen under our noses and then say, oh, well, there’s nothing we can do now. I guess we’re screwed. That’s how we got where we are today.

I’m fed up with everyone just sitting around and saying, oh well, too bad, the libs took this one—we’ll get ‘em next time. We will not have a next time. This newly elected president spits on the constitution, says it’s inadequate to solve economic retributive justice for all. Believes it’s a living document, fluid, ripe for alteration. That’s the first sign we’re in trouble, and our freedoms are being taken from us.

Look, the Christians sat around in the 70’s and said and did nothing about Roe v. Wade and that floodgate opened and we can’t shut it. And now, some people are advocating more of the same. Sit around and wait for the pendulum to swing back? What about the freedoms we lose while we sit and wait that can’t be given back? We have Social Security FOREVER thanks to FDR. We will not be able to unring these bells Obama plans to ring, and if Texans don’t plan ahead, he will try to confiscate our property and we’ll be caught with our pants down, reaching for our guns to protect ourselves, but they’ll be gone and we’ll be toast.

Plan ahead, be prepared, ever vigilant, ever ready.

Q: Doesn’t the Texas Constitution reserve the right of Texas to secede?

A: No such provision is found in the current Texas Constitution[1](adopted in 1876) or the terms of annexation.[2] However, it does state (in Article 1, Section 1) that “Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States...” Neither the Texas Constitution, nor the Constitution of the united States, explicitly or implicitly disallows the secession of Texas (or any other “free and independent State”) from the united States. Joining the “ Union” was ever and always voluntary, rendering voluntary withdrawal an equally lawful and viable option (regardless of what any self-appointed academic, media, or government “experts”—including Abraham Lincoln himself—may have ever said). Both the original (1836) and the current (1876) Texas Constitutions also state that “All political power is inherent in the people ... they have at all times the inalienable right to alter their government in such manner as they might think proper.”

I've been on the bandwagon for years. If the rest of the country wants to sit around on their welfare checks drinking koolaid demanding more taxes from me, then by golly, let's secede. My ancestors brought in Santa Anna to Houston and declared us our own country once and there's no reason we can't do it again.

Texas wouldn’t go anywhere... we refine 75% of the world’s oil.

Not even close. In Texas we have 26 refineries capable of processing 4.75 MMBPD. The world uses about 86 MMBPD. We process about 6% of the world and about 24% of the US.

Yes, that would be our first order of business...finding a leader who was for securing our borders. Any suggestions, Texans?
