Gordon Smith is Toast

Posted on 11/05/2008 5:08:26 PM PST by PublicEnemyNumber1

There are 140,000 votes left to count in Multnomah county which will go almost two to one for his opponent. There are nowhere near enough other outstanding votes for Smith. Thus, he'll lose by roughly 30,000 votes and yet another RINO is toast.

Then the dems have 3 more seats to capture the magic number 60.

I don’t think so, there are many other votes Statewide that will make up for Multnomah County. Welcome to freerepublic.com!

Chambliss is 110,000 votes ahead of Martin, and the Libertarian, who got 126,000 votes, will not participate in the runoff.

Thanks but no thanks. We already have too many Democrats disguised as Republicans.

Do you believe a word he says? He sold his soul for a little power in 2000. Joe only cares about Joe. He proved that.

Chambliss will hold his seat. All he needs to do in the run-off is get a very few from the Libertarian.

I also think that a lot of those voters voted straight Democrat to vote for Obama and will not come back to vote in the run-off election. I will be there again casting my vote for Saxby.

Chambliss will win b/c the blacks will not come out in droves for a special election.

This is almost like the Coverdell/Fowler runoff in 1992. That was the first time I had any “hope” after the Clinton victory.

Don’t assume too much... the Messiah may return to Georgia urging his flock to come out for the special election.

This man was such a putz. He was too stupid to even appropriate enough pork to properly rebuild the state highway from LaGrande to Milton Freewater that ran past his huge mansion on Langdon Lake in the Tollgate area.

This road is heavily travelled by large trucks and opens up a great recreational area, and as such the money could have done some real good as this was not a “bridge to nowhere”, but he was afraid of the political fallout from taking too much pork... Please don’t take this wrong I am not for pork but this highway is absolutely horrible and dangerous..

He deserves to have his butt kicked out of the senate for masquerading as a republican

Smith is a douche bag. He essentially campaigned as a democrat complete with TV ads of him and Barack. At one point, Merkley had to come out and state for the record that he was the ‘real democrat’ in the race.

I don’t care what Gordon Smith had to say to get re-elected. He MUST be re-elected to help McConnell with filibuster votes. Wake up.

Okay, where does things stand now in the Senate? I know Chambliss is in a probable run-off and Coleman is in a recount. If Smith loses, how many seats will the Demoncrat Party have? I figure that Sanders and Lieberman will vote with the Demoncrats 95% of the time, but not including them how many seats do they have now?
