The Rockefeller group supposedly told Reagan in Detroit he would not be President if he didn't pick Bush. According to Michael Reagan, this is untrue. He once said on his radio show that he was present when Ronald Reagan made the decision to tap Bush for the VP slot, and that nothing of the sort happened.
