(OHIO) Brunner: Election “free, fair, open and honest”
Dayton Daily News ^ | Nov 7, 2008 | William Hershey

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat under fire from Republicans for her handling of the presidential election, says things turned out just fine at the polls.

She made the comments on Thursday, Nov. 6, in an e-mail from her campaign committee - she’s expected to seek re-election in 2010 - not from the secretary of state’s office.

Without naming her predecessor, she also criticized outgoing Republican Secretary of State Ken Blackwell. “With a dedicated and talented team, hard working boards of elections and the help of many others who care deeply about democracy, Ohio has turned the corner with a free, fair and honest presidential election in Ohio held just two days ago,” the e-mail said.

As for the 2004 election under Blackwell:

“Because of the chaos and confusion that abounded in Ohio’s 2004 election, the state was held up to criticism and even ridicule, causing many to lose faith in what should be a solidly fair and democratic process.” The e-mail, of course, asked her supporters to “contribute.”

Kevin DeWine, deputy chairman of the Ohio Republican Party and a big-time Brunner critic, praised local boards of elections on Thursday, but had no praise for Brunner

Here’s the full e-mail from Brunner.

“Four years ago, I was a state trial court judge who watched in dismay as my state was demonized around the world for the way we conducted our presidential election.

Ohio was in the unenviable position of being the state that put the reelection of the President over the top in electoral votes, and many questioned whether they could trust our process.

Because of the chaos and confusion that abounded in Ohio’s 2004 election, the state was held up to criticism and even ridicule, causing many to lose faith .................."

Funny..now on the same day this news came out in the Columbus Dispatch...
I'm shocked, shocked I tell you ;)

Some Ohio votes double-counted COLUMBUS, Ohio

— Elections officials say some electronic votes were counted twice in the unofficial returns reported by Franklin County, which includes Columbus.

The affected precincts are part of central Ohio's 15th Congressional District, where the race between Republican Steve Stivers (STY'-vurz) and Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy remains too close to call.

Franklin County Board of Elections Director Michael Stinziano says the miscounts will be fixed on Friday. He says it was a very smooth election overall.

One Columbus precinct has 1,066 registered voters but posted 1,138 votes. In suburban Worthington, a precinct has 534 registered voters but counted 633 votes, and another has 951 registered voters but reported 1,095 votes.

There is only voter fraud, suppression and election-stealing when the Democrats lose. Otherwise, it went smooth as silk. /sarc

IMHO, the most important goal republicans should have for the next two elections is to root out the liberals in the Statehouses and SOS offices. It is quite possible that the people in these positions will steal at least two more US Senate seats from Republicans in the next few weeks. With all the cheating that is going on, and sanctioned by these government officials, we are never going to win another national election unless we get them OUT!

To paraphrase Josef Stalin, “it is not the vote ‘counts’ that are important, rather ‘the one who counts the votes’.

The RNC needs to skip a few of the cocktail parties and look closely at the election process. The Sec of State in each state, or the office that controls voting, can determine the outcome of elections. These are not some small local position. They wield power - who gets to vote, what votes count, etc.

The RNC is loosing due to their own dependency to cocktail parties and the need “to be loved”. Couch time is in order.

President Bush won Ohio by a margin well beyond any arguments about creative counting. The Dems knew Ohio would be the tipping point and had an army of lawyers ready to go if they thought it was close enough to steal. They didn't show up because they realized they couldn't sneak enough extra ballots in their carry-on luggage on the flight into Ohio.

Ms. Brunner,
As an Ohioan, you have shown me that I can have no confidence whatsoever that Democrats in Columbus will do ANYTHING free, fair, open and honest. We certainly will take responsibility in putting Bob Taft up in Columbus, but your corruption brings things to new heights. Though I occassionally do vote for a local democrat, you have assurred that regardless who is running for office, my vote will NEVER go to put a democrat at the State level. Enjoy your time in office. It won’t be long.

I was a certified poll observer on Tuesday. It was non-stop chicanery and violations of polling place impartiality. The polling place I observed was essentially a low grade 0bama rally.

Did you docuement it? Did you write downt the actual accounts of what went on? Did you send it to anyone - your congressman, paper, anyone?

Please people enough of the talk - it it time to act - speak out, videotape, write letters. Telling us on FR is nice but it is like preaching to the choir.
