The end of the Bush-Clinton era.

I like the way that sounds.

The party of Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan has endured a tortuous detour down the Bush Parkway and then into the McCain cul-de-sac. Fortunately, we do have a compass — a compass called the Constitution and a north star called limited government. The first step to regain our bearings is to stop talking about where we have been and start thinking about where we want to go. More than the future of the Republican party depends on our resilience and our abiity to chart that new course successfully.
::::::::::::::::
It will take LEADERSHIP of many, and a committment to purging the present “Republican” party. Presently, it is anything but real, traditional Republican. Doing anything else before that happens, will be a waste of time. We need a solid foundation of strong Americanism and conservatism. The party is virtually devoid of that at present.

Not everyone in heartland America drank the New Change Kool-Aid; many voters would have voted for Benedict Arnold just to poke Bush in the eye. That sentiment will dissipate quickly.

Rebuild the brand, get solid, CONSERVATIVE candidates and someone to run the RNC and we'll come screaming back in 2010 & 2012...

Lesson 1:

The next Republican candidate will have to have a real set of balls (or in the case of a female - the demonstrated equivalency).

Lesson 2:

The next candidate cannot be anyone endorsed by NYT, LAT, MSM as a 'maverick', 'aisle crosser', compassionate, etc.

Lesson 3:

The next candidate will have to be insulated from the 'racist' claim and not afraid to speak up with valid reverse discrimination arguments - possibly a female.

Lesson 4:

The next candidate must expunge the following words/phrases from his/her vocabulary : comprehensive immigration reform, 'fairness', "My Friends...", 'progressive', and it goes on and on.....

Tancredo should have a large role to play in the new GOP.

Good summation by Mr.T.

The big problem for McCain on election day was, too many conservatives stayed home. Including many members of the Religious Right. Just look at the turn out.

Obama ran almost a flawless campaign and that helped him to sell his biggest proposal in the last month -— 95% of Americans will be getting a tax cut. Obama’s rhetoric on this issue hoodwinked a whole lot of Americans into believing what amounts to a bold face lie. So be it.

Change for the sake of change will not bring about real change. Obama offers the same tired worn out liberal agenda that Democrats have been promoting for the last 43 years!

The Republican party tossed conservatism aside to boldly reach for the defeat that it seems to lust after.

Well said, Tom.

But next time, however, before lecturing Bush about spending, you might want to ask for forgiveness for voting for the socialist bailout alongside Pelosi, Reid and the GOP leadership.

And the next time you want to lecture McCain on illegal immigration, you might want to ask for forgiveness for throwing your support to Mitt Amnesty Romney instead of Duncan Hunter, your superior on the issue.

Two words for Bush's failure: "New tone"

Two words for McCain's failure: No tone.

Let the RINOs keep the GOP.

It’s time for conservatives to move on, start a new party, and take the few conservative leaders left in the GOP with us and give them a home in which they can flourish.

The GOP needs to go the way of the Whigs. Otherwise, we conservatives will just be Charlie Brown getting the football swept away by Lucy time and time again.

Conservatives need to organize and exercise power outside of the Republican party in the same manner that the lefists did. As much as we hate them, daily kos and moveon acquired financial power and exercised it over the democrats rooting out their moderates. These organizations were able to coordinate with the Obama ground game and absolutely run circles around the Republicans.
