McCain - and maybe Palin - to stump for Chambliss
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 11/7/8 | JIM THARPE

Posted on 11/07/2008 9:38:40 AM PST by SmithL

U.S. Sen. John McCain will come to Georgia to campaign for Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, the Moultrie lawmaker’s campaign confirmed Friday.

“We just have to work out the dates,” said Chambliss’s spokeswoman, Michelle Grasso.

Grasso said the campaign is also in touch with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s office about a possible Georgia appearance.

“She wants to come down, but right now we are working with her schedulers to see if that’s possible,” Grasso said.

Chambliss is headed for a Dec. 2 runoff with Democratic challenger Jim Martin of Atlanta. Neither candidate got a majority of the vote in their Nov. 4 contest with Libertarian Allen Buckley.

A high-profile runoff between Chambliss and Martin will likely attact political bigwigs from both sides.

Martin’s campaign has already been in touch with President-elect Barack Obama about a possible Georgia appearance, but Obama had not cofirmed an appearance as of Friday.

Even though Obama won the presidency, McCain led the vote tally in Georgia.

Palin would be more of a help than McCain.

Get Palin down there. She should live down there until the runoff is over.

Lock Juan up in one of his 7 houses and don’t let him out until after the runoff.

I haven’t seen any of them defend her, but they still want to use her.

Palin yes.
McCain no.
What’s is McCain going to talk about? Amnesty for illegal alien law breakers and killers?
Yeah, that will go down like poison in Georgoa.

For heaven’s sake! Send Sarah. Please. She is the one who turned out the big crowds and she is the one who can get conservatives to vote. McCain would be a drag on the ticket (heh).

The pitch is “Georgia, do you really want to give the Democrats a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate? Do you?”

That should be enough.

Keep McCain away from Georgia. We need to win this seat.

My thoughts precisely; Palin would be more effective.

I really think McCain would hurt Chambliss down here. McCain is not very popular in my neck of the woods. Just look back at the primaries. Palin would absolutely guarantee a victory for Chambliss. It is the homerun he needs. Have her spend one day making 3 or 4 stops around the state, maybe only giving 1 or 2 actual speeches and then she can fly back. He!!, I will pay for the flight myself if need be. Have her show up right after Thanksgiving maybe November 30 or December 1 to get out the vote.

It would probably also guarantee a primary win 4 years from now as well :-) Folks down here have a long memory.

I would keep McCain out of there. It will remind people of the election.

Saxby will hold this seat. No way the Dem turnout will match what it did without Obama on the ticket.

The pitch should also be a 3-fold of the following:

1. I do not support raising taxes on any Georgian making any amount of money.

2. I do not support the government’s right to regulate political radio speech regardless of the point of view in the free market. Call it the “Gag Order”,not the FD.

3. I do not support the government’s right to confiscate your 401K’s and expect you to trust them in the management style of Social Security, Medicare and Fanny and Freddie Mac.

Better: don't let him out until after his Senate term is over and a replacement has been elected.

McCain’s presence in GA to stump for Saxby is UNWELCOME and would seal the deal that conservatives stay home and therefore help Jim Martin get in.

Not only is Saxby an amnesty-supporting, bailout voting RINO, his office staff are as helpful and supportive as t*ts on a bull. After contacting his office via email and phone about amnesty and bailout, they have proved to be utterly inept. So inept, they spammed me for days with the loooonggg explanation of his votes. None of which said anything about the substance of his vote, but rather a pity message about how I should feel so bad for Saxby for having to do something grossly inconsistent with conservative views.

Yep, McCain would gurantee a Chambliss loss.

I recieved a postcard from Chambliss that contained a Huckabee endorsement. Huckabee or Palin would help Chambliss.
