This is rather worrying, Russia seems not to have shaken it's cold war attitudes-nor have we?

It would seem that even with the FR servers being down for a day, that we haven't shaken the ever persistent trolls.

Any troll with a screen name like 'hippydippy' could suck a golf ball through a garden hose.

hippydippy - since November 5, 2008

I'll be watchin' you.

Russia won’t have to go to war with us. Their plan with BO is to re-form the Soviet Union. BO will oblige when they ask us to join it.

Sounds like you aren't very familiar with Freepers. If you are serious about being a Freeper I would sugest mostly laying a little lower while you pick up the lay of the land. if you like what you see, stick around. If not, not.

This country has elected someone who will indeed emasculate the military.

I have a background in economics and math and I can say that is pretty much the case. Barack Obama is going to be Jimmy Carter II no matter what he does. We have countervailing forces in the monetary and fiscal side of the economy. Any policy to benefit one side, hurts the other given our economic environment.

Too bad he wussed out and got a poli sci degree in college. If he had taken anything economics related, he would realize how useless his advisors are and that we are headed for a solid 2-3 year recession, longer if we get another oil supply shock from a middle east war.

This is all a replay of the 70’s. I was in Iran back then, when Carter screwed up the world. I have the feeling that Obama will again totally screw up the Middle East, Pakistan, cause a regional war, desperately trying to be a “peace president” and wreck our power and economy. In 25 years Obama will also receive the Nobel Peace prize.

we are headed for a solid 2-3 year recession...

Is that 2-3 years factoring in the promised tax increases on the people who create jobs in this country?

The Russians and Chinese know better than to pluck the eagle's feathers, and no one else would dare. When I left the service in 1983 we had weapons that are still not talked about that keep the wolves from the door, and I daresay we've developed many more since then.

Weapons are of little use in preventing war unless your adversaries believe you have the strength of purpose to use them.

Obama is the master of "mixed messages" that will tempt both the Russians and the Chinese to probe their meaning.

We had an opportunity to have a good long term relationship with Russia after the breakup of the Soviet Union and WE blew it! 70 years of dealing with the Russians and the “Russian Experts” (Idiots)in our government still don’t have a clue about dealing with the Russians. Above everything else they are PARANOID...they have a system of disbelief about EVERYTHING. Regardless of our intentions...until WE prove them wrong by OUR actions they will always believe we are out to get them. Our stupidity in dealing with them is the problem..and as far as I am concerned it all goes back to the statement President Eisenhower made.. “beware the military-industrial complex”. They want to restart the cold war..they made billions on it and are crying in their beer that it is(was) over!

Good advice!

Hippydippy obviously doesn't realize that

a) It's unlikely that anyone here would rush to retort "maybe we aren't any better," and

b) Many Freepers might actually argue that our Cold War attitudes back then were quite honorable and justified, and that there might be good reason today to resume an attitude of distrust vis-à-vis the Russians.

Regards,

Russia is a dying country and Putin is delusional

Countries fall from within( as we are in the process of doing )
and Russia is a walking corpse whose male average age span is now 59 and a country where the population is declining
Oil revenues are falling and the economic disaster that is going to hit us will hit them also

China will probably gobble up Russia’s Far East areas in the future

Impossible. We now have a pansy in an empty suit in the “Office of the President-Elect.” There can be no war, only surrender.

Russsia knows that Americans will not sign up to defend our allies under an Obama presidency. As far as the military goes I believe many of our men and women will be retiring now and will NOT come back to serve under this marxist. Sign ups will also be down.

The rest of the world will see what its like to live under tyranny now that they have gotten their leader. Good luck Israel - Jews voted 70% for Obama - the people who would of stood up and supported you are gone - middle America, the ones that die for our freedoms have a new battle and its not going to take place in the military.

“Russia is a dying country and Putin is delusional”

Russia knows that its life depends on its death - therefore watch them gobble up the weak - and use the resources and the exposure to wreak havoc. This is not about land this is about power and percieved power.
