TALENT SHOPS COURTING PALIN
The New York Post ^ | November 9, 2008

Posted on 11/09/2008 6:00:22 AM PST by AmericanMade1776

SARAH Palin won't be vice president, but she won the hearts of talent scouts and literary agents who are scrambling to sign her to multimillion-dollar contracts.

CAA, ICM, William Morris, Paradigm and other agencies "smell books, talk shows and commentary for Fox and CNN" as possibilities for the Alaska governor, West Coast PR man Hal Lifson told us.

"There are several of our imprints who are eager to talk to Governor Palin," Random House spokesman Stuart Applebaum said. "She clearly has a constituency and we know books by conservatively-centered politicos usually sell very, very well."

Public-relations powerhouse Howard Rubenstein added, "She's poised to make a ton of money." But he warned, "She ought to keep an eye on what her goals are for 2012. If she plays a game and looks foolish, if she sounds like she doesn't know what she's talking about - like saying Africa is a country - she may talk herself out of a political job."

What kind of money can Palin expect? “That’s an interesting question because everybody will compare what she gets to the book deal Tina Fey reportedly made - $6 million,” said one high-ranking publishing source. “No matter what it is, the betting is she’ll sign a deal by the end of the month.”

IMO, she should pass on most of those things, why come off like a normal politician trying to cash in?

I’d like to see her write a serious book outlining her ideas and ideals, but avoid the talk show circuit for now.

GTH Rubenstein. She doesn't need advice from patronizing hacks.

Wouldn't going down that road require that her "memoirs" be written by someone else?

I hope that she turns them all down. She should tell them, "Thanks, but no thanks, I'm too busy doing the job the people of Alaska elected me to do."

It would mess with their heads. They all think that it's always about the money and the fame, and they wouldn't understand how anyone could turn down such lucrative deals.

The Palin's aren't poor, and she is already famous.

I think that will be her choice, but whatever she decides. I suspect Sarah is more about Principle, than dollars. Although as we learned dollars sure help you get to the White House. Shame that someone with Principles has to play by those rules.

The sight of her, not to mention the very thought of her, warms the cockles of my heart.

"Shame that someone with Principles has to play by those rules."

For now. The pendulum always swings back. Real conservatives (i.e. the people who are the true base of the Republican party) have been starved for someone with real, personal morals and principles. Governor Palin ignited hope in them and inspired a swell of support the likes of which haven't been seen in the Rep. party in years.

I believe we will begin to see others like her emerge on to the political scene. The East Coast, blue-blood, country club Republicans will hate it and will tray and quash it, but there are more of us than them.

I think she should do what she and her family decide and that she should focus on Alaska. And I think she will.

She has a new baby and a grandbaby coming soon. I believe she’ll stick close to home. Maybe write a book. But I don’t see her running all over creation giving interviews and speaking for hire.

Sarah Palin is a “regular person” who hasn’t let fame affect her sensibilities. That’s why she’s so admired by many of us.

I can’t remember, was it Palin or Fey who said something about being the next White Oprah.

Must of been Fey, doesn't sound like something Sarah Palin would say.

What would be VERY funny to see would be super agent Ari Emanuel rep her. And if you don’t know who he is, he’s the brother of Rahm Emanuel. The character Ari Gold in Entourage is molded after Ari Emanuel.
