Democrats Set Sights On Texas (Latinos=Blue State?)
The Los Angeles Times ^ | November 9, 2008 | Peter Wallsten

Posted on 11/09/2008 6:33:33 AM PST by truthkeeper

As they review the results of Tuesday's election victories and begin looking toward future campaigns, some Democrats have settled on a rallying cry: Texas is next.

It sounds improbable for the Republican bastion that produced President Bush and served as an early laboratory for Karl Rove's hard-nosed tactics. But Texas is one of several reliably red states that are now in Democrats' sights as party strategists begin to analyze a victorious 2008 campaign that they believe showed the contours of a new movement that could grow and prove long-lasting.

A multiethnic bloc of Latinos, blacks, young people and suburban whites helped to broaden the party's reach Tuesday well beyond its traditional base in the Northeast and the West Coast -- carrying Barack Obama into the White House and expanding the party's majorities in Congress...

The only thing that will forestall this is if somehow amnesty isn’t granted. But generally, from what I’ve seen, people have come to Texas because that’s where the jobs have been, home prices are still quite affordable, and we don’t have a state income tax.

Now we know, you just can’t have a state with these characteristics. So naturally the Dems will seek to turn Texas into yet another liberal Dem economic success.

Meanwhile, the GOP still has its sights set on out-Democrating Democrats. The Republican Party has essentially turned its back on conservatism. I no longer consider myself a Republican. If anyone asks, I tell them I am a Conservative.

Case in point: Here in Georgia, Saxby Chambliss is in danger of losing what should have been a slam-dunk win in this state because he decided to act like a Democrat. He was an early proponent of amnesty along with McCain. He champions his initiative in getting the super-boondoggle agriculture bill passed. He endorsed McCain early during the campaign while his House counterparts were backing Romney. And finally he supported the $700 billion bailout of Obama cronies at Citibank, Goldman Sachs, and Fannie Mae. And now to top it all off, the first person he calls on to help him in his runoff bid is loser John McCain.

I think we have more to fear from the Yankee invasion than the one from the south.

While I don’t disagree that the border should be closed, sometimes I think the Red should be addressed first.

I understand that, for sure. Feinstein, Boxer, Schwarzennegger, all Eastern transplants. Damn them.

Just watch what happens when the non productive portions of Latinos and blacks start to fight over the shrinking benefits.

The productive portions of our population are going to resent spreading what little they will be permitted to produce. Profit is colorblind.

“The GOP just found itself in a lake of quicksand it could not get out of.”

Oh, we ‘just found ourselves’ there, did we?

That is what happens when we DO NOT DO THE RIGHT THING.

We had control for a long period of time. We could have fixed those particular problems BEFORE they blew up on us.

Couldn’t we.

ACORN was known about.
The CRA act was known about.
The Housing bubble was known about.
The massive subdivisions being built that nobody could afford were known about.

Our out of control and undisciplined spending were known about.

Our failure to push and set TERM LIMITS were known about.

Our failure to push and set AGE LIMITS were known about.

WE ARE REAPING THE WHIRLWIND OF OUR OWN INACTIONS.

We did not apply enough effort and pressure.

When a democracy has more takers than givers, and the takers have an equal vote, democracy can not survive; socialism will reign supreme, and it will mean the end of the United States as we have known it!

Houston has been blue for years, but Harris County has been red as a whole. This year the Republicans in Harris County were almost wiped out as rats won 90% of the races.

Oh it will happen. Notice how you never heard any stories about ACORN in California? You can bet ACORN will be out in full force in Texas, Utah, Nebraska and Oklahoma next. They’ve been planning their heist for four years, ever since Obama made his DNC speech. If Obama is re-elected, you can bet those states will be blue next.

Thanks, open border traitors!

Don't worry about Texas going 'rat, heck, in 25 years, it won't even be a state!

Yep! As recently as 1976 Gerald Ford, a weak GOP candidate, swept every Western state (except for the unique state of Hawaii). Think about that. He even carried Washington & Oregon. As recently as 1988 we performed nearly as well, only losing WA & OR. This year we lost those two states, plus California, New Mexico, Colorado, and Nevada.

Arizona is now becoming a competitive state. It once ran up GOP presidential majorities so huge the Dems totally wrote it off. In the once dominant GOP West, we'll soon be down to the tiny electoral college states of Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Alaska, and Montana (and even Montana is becoming competitive).

This is all largely the result of mass migration of immigrants into these states. Those immigrants not only vote leftist, but send upscale white liberals fleeing from their traditional strongholds in LA and the Bay Area into CO, AZ, NV, MT, etc.

The same thing is happening in Texas, but more slowly since the whites there are so overwhelmingly conservative. It'll take more immigrants to turn it blue than it took in California, where a sizable minority of the whites were lefties. But around 2016 or 2020, Texas will likely fall to the ‘Rats.

Now, this will cause some turmoil on the ‘Rat side, with blacks feuding with Latinos, both groups feuding with homosexuals, and so forth, but it won't help conservatives any. All it'll mean is that conservative whites sit by and watch the various identity factions of the ‘Rat party fight it out for turf. We might get some guilty pleasure out of it, but no wins. On election day, they'll all vote against whitey, and then all go back to feuding among themselves afterward.

Perhaps every once in a while a Rudy Giuliani type Republican, who's liberal on most domestic issues, will win. That happened in New York City when black mayor David Dinkins became so racially polarizing that normally Democrat voting groups like Jews & Puerto Ricans voted for Rudy out of self-defense. That helped a little, maybe, on crime issues and so forth, but it didn't change the overall liberal drift of the culture and it didn't change the Democrat dominance of the city one bit. NYC still elected an overwhelmingly leftist ‘Rat city council and continued to vote ‘Rat big time in state and national elections.

Eventually, some of the mushy white moderates who voted for Obama this year will realize that the rainbow coalition doesn't include whites and will drift back to the GOP, but by then it won't matter. The Republicans will be down to a few mid-sized southern states and a few small states like the Dakotas and Idaho.

The change in our immigration laws in 1965, combined with allowing millions of illegals to sneak in, is about to make us a Third World nation.

Yes, and true Coloradans (is that correct?) still are. The unfortunate truth is Colorado was infiltrated/invaded by West Coast liberals, just like New Mexico. Maybe a really severe winter will send them all back home. Well I can dream can't I? Look out Texas, you are under attack!

And how well these “suburban whites” will tolerate immigration, both legal and illegal . . . once it comes into THEIR neighborhoods and schools and hospitals.

I’m sorry to be so negative, but when this country can ignore EVERYTHING that is right and good and elect a man like Obama

Sadly I believe you're right. 2008 was theyear of the New Alamo but the defenders simply opened the main gate and let Santa Ann in without so much as a shot.

Demographics are everything. With Latinos breaking at best 40-60 for Dems, at the most optimistic we still lose.

Latinos are culturally conservative but when they cross the border, corruption of America culture in the big cities makes it virtually impossible to remain so.

In twenty years large parts of America will look like Mexico and in fifty years you won't be able to tell the, difference between the two. A free, capitalistic America, much less an historically Anglo-Saxon America simply won't exist.

Look at Venezuela for the future of America....
