Moon Griffon Radio Show

Radio host Griffon quits Republicans

Conservative talk show host Moon Griffon, of Monroe, who has a statewide radio audience, had spent much of 2007 supporting the gubernatorial campaign of Gov. Bobby Jindal. But last week, Griffon said in an interview that he had quit the Republican Party and re-registered as a “no party” voter.

“My frustration with Bobby Jindal is that he is not being a conservative,” Griffon said. Jindal allowed substantial pay raises for state legislators until the public, being led in large part by talk show hosts such as Griffon, complained so loudly, the governor reversed his course.

Another example of Jindal skewing off the conservative line, Griffon said, came when the governor was late to join a move to change the so-called Stelly tax brackets, which led to tax reduction for wealthier taxpayers.

“Conservatives are mad as hell and they’re not taking it anymore,” Griffon said.

This is how you get control of your own party.

The tarring begins. First Palin now Jindal. Anybody that’s might be mentioned for 2012 is going to get tarred and feathered before the next election. Get used to it.

The public is part of the government. Jindal didn’t let the yahoo’s who tried to help themselves to a pay raise off the hook by immediately vetoing the raise. People got pissed off and let their voices be heard.

IF WE THE PEOPLE would actually get involved more by holding the feet to the fire of those who are supposed to represent us then they would remember just who works for who.

Some people will not be satisfied unless they get a brilliant executive who is a pro-life social and economic conservative who is an evangelical Christian, never divorced, never had any sort of affair or pre-marital sex, etc.

They don't want a candidate, they want Jesus Himself.

Yes but something good that could come of this is that Jindal, if truly interested in the presidency, HAS TO govern more conservatively. He has a chance to overcome these early missteps by actually putting into effect reform. It’s now or never, maybe not just for him.

That’s not true. But the media will portray it that way. Ironically, then the media will holler, ‘Run for the hills! Holy War is coming!’

Moon can be a bit simple-minded at times..I do know that Jindal waited until the public protested before he vetod the pay raise for state legislators,
However.. many schools of thought on this issue have wondered if Jindal wasn't playing fox to the legislators rabbit by having his cake and eating it too. If this is true, it was a brilliant move by Jindal to keep most legislators on his side for future support on other issues, while knowing the whole time that the public outcry over a 300% pay increase would be enough to justify his veto of it in the end.

Does not seem to matter now.
Husein is being declared the new messiah, even with a move to grant a national holiday in his name.
America has a BAD FEVER and there may be no cure.
Must be tingly leg syndrome.

As I will now always add:
Thank God I no longer have to live there.

But how, CC?

One thing I admire about the lesser European countries is their actual activism. By that I mean, apart from really good homemade signs, several years ago in Romania (I think) an official sexually molested a 16yr old girl and within the next week there was a mob of 150,000 angry Romanians calling for his ouster.

How does that happen in America? A March-On-Washington would have to planned for, say, late summer? Even then, the inaccessible elitists would just wait for everyone to go home and continue business as usual.

Moon can be a bit simple-minded at times.

Moon is a personal friend of mine. What you call simple minded, I call standing on principles. I've known him for 15 years.

As to Jindal, it is a gold-plated fact he had to be FORCED into supporting the Stelly Tax rollback and he had to be FORCED into vetoing the pay raise. If you had paid close attention to the debate last spring, you would have known that.

I caught unshirted hell from many freepers for criticizing Jindal during that time last year. No matter, I know what I know.

While Jindal is a vast improvement over MeMaw Blanco and Mike Foster, he still isn't Ronald Reagan made over. He is a social conservative but BOBBY JINDAL IS A BIG-GOVERNMENT REPUBLICAN.

You all have been warned.

All right; someone from LA explain this to me. I understand the concept of politicians giving themselves pay raises is almost always distasteful, but I understand their average base pay was $16,800. This sounds like some kind of raise might have been in order, given that such a low figure in a corrupt state would be a virtual invitation to bribery.

Was it the percentage of the pay raise that stuck in everyone’s craw?

All we have to do is put some laws in place that employees have a ‘right’ to have paid time off from work to ‘protest’ and bingo! Crowds of people!

Of course, many more will be unemployed, because businesses won’t hire people, because of the idiotic laws that we pass, but funny thing: more unemployed people means more protesters! It’s a win win! w00t!

What about the State (heh heh heh) Ethics Board?

Jindal's highly touted ethics reform is loophole legislation with no one to enforce it.

I'm praying that he's now under a watchful eye he'll govern like the kind of conservative we want.

He has a chance to overcome these early missteps by actually putting into effect reform.

Every governor has to work with his legislature. Hence the support for the pay raise.

The question has to be what was Jindal to get for his support of the pay raise?

The late support for the tax cuts is possibly a larger question. Was he simply studying the issue or is he truly just a vocal conservative?

Jindal may simply need to improve in his communication of his reasons for his actions.
