Legislative pay raise? Blocking a tax cut? Are you saying that’s good? Are you admitting to being a Big Government type, too?

Tax cuts are ALWAYS good. Period. If a politician - of any party - tries to tell me otherwise, I need to know nothing else about him.

I don't know much about Jindal but we've got 4 years to learn. I look forward to the Palin/Jindal comparisons but I'm still a FredHead. Bring it on.

“The tarring begins. First Palin now Jindal.”

My thought exactly!

You don’t know what you’re talking about. Moon Griffon IS the conservative standard in Louisiana, just as Rush Limbaugh IS the conservative standard nationally.

Some people will not be satisfied unless they get a brilliant executive who is a pro-life social and economic conservative who is an evangelical Christian, never divorced, never had any sort of affair or pre-marital sex, etc.

Don't know about the premarital hanky panky but this one sort of fits the bill.

Back during the Clarence Thomas hearings, I decided I wanted a conservative/libertarian-leaning Justice on the Supremes, and I decided to not be concerned about imperfections.

I annoyed several female feminist co-workers when I said "I don't believe any of Anita Hill's accusations, and I would still support Clarence Thomas if EVERY SINGLE ONE of her accusations were true."

I am declaring ahead of time, that if I am confident that a candidate with work for social and economic liberty, that I will not care about any imperfections in their personal life, except where such are indicators of grave failures of character. I will not care about what they smoked in college (I smoked plenty, and I am still conservative). I will not care about who or what they slept with (within reason), and I will not care what they drive.

At first I thought this guy was a Los Angeles talk show host. Now that I know he's from Louisiana it wakes his opinion a little more valuable.

“Conservatives are mad as hell and they’re not taking it anymore,” Griffon said.

Can’t argue with that.

from your link:
Issues involving transparency and open records in the Governor’s Office and elsewhere must be improved if Louisiana is really willing to boast about being the best in ethics laws.
Effective enforcement is an issue, too, given drastic changes in the structure of the Board of Ethics this year.

from C.B. Forgotston
In his new ethics law, [Jindal] raised the standard of proof to a level unlikely to be reached by the Administrative Law Judges that he appoints. That is, if those who Jindal appointed to the Ethics Board (a majority) decide to forward the case to the judges.
Oct. 16, 2008

Ethics on holiday in LA
Monday, Jul 21 2008

Ten of the eleven members of the Heh, Heh, Heh, State Ethics Board quit, including the board’s top administrator. The board cannot do anything because it no longer has a quorum of members.

Bobby Jindal claims LA leads the nation in ethics laws. We give him pass on that bit of erroneous hyperbole. After all, Bobby is a politician and lying by politicians has been found to be “protected speech” by some Federal courts.

In summary

According to Jindal we have the “toughest ethics laws in the nation.” Even if that were true, they are unenforceable because of language Jindal allowed to be put into the enforcement mechanism. If the laws were enforceable, there is nobody to enforce them.

That gives new meaning to “come to Louisiana, we’re open for business.” It now is more like come to Louisiana and let’s make a deal there are no rules.

IS THIS A GREAT STATE OR WHAT!

C.B.

Shooting the messenger?

Not at all. I said this: "That's a damned lie." I didn't say you were a liar.

Moon never got involved in the primary races at all.

I'm waiting.

It's been smoke and mirrors so far.

BTW,
Jindal's Economic Development Secretary is disappointing so far, too.

Are you admitting to being a Big Government type, too?

No. I am admitting that Governing is different than being a Politian.

Tax cuts are ALWAYS good.

You are living in La La Land. I don’t know about La but many states have a balanced budget required by their constitution. Recovering from a natural disaster cost a good deal of money. If your states total tax loading is low compared to other states cutting taxes may not be a good idea at this time.

If a politician - of any party - tries to tell me otherwise, I need to know nothing else about him.

You and mister Griffon seem to have forgotten Reagan’s eleventh commandment.

I remember a few years ago; if you drove a nice car and were out of state you got a shakedown from the cops and your car taken. That stopped casino goers for a while.

These future candidates have to prove themselves. I think I am becoming jaded.

"Moon is a personal friend of mine. What you call simple minded, I call standing on principles."

Well, please ask him to take his message national, not just about Bobby "Messiah Deux" Jindal but about conservative principles in general.
Ask him if he would come here to Texas next year, to Austin to speak to the Texas Conservative Policy Forum.

La.'s "Rush" quits 'pub party of Jindal frustrations

I have yet to find where Rush is mentioned in the title of this article. The only title I have found is "Radio host Griffon quits Republicans." I would, however, like to see Mr. Griffon's numbers compared to Rush's numbers in Louisiana, and see what advertisers are paying during those hours.

Jindal allowed substantial pay raises for state legislators

I don't know if WBRZ was paraphrasing what Griffon stated, or just making up facts as they typed, but I was never aware that Bobby Jindal signed the legislation (satisfying the requirement for allowing the pay increase), then somehow decided after signing the bill into law that he had special powers to veto laws that have already been implemented.

Somebody please correct my understanding of Louisiana civics, because I was under the impression that the legislature approved the pay increases, that it went to Jindal's desk, and that Jindal vetoed the bill. I was never aware of him signing the bill into law, then later vetoing it.

I know I'm being somewhat sarcastic, but this is what the article claimed.

Well maybe Mr. Griffon needs to run for office and show the world what perfect governance looks like.

You and Griffon need to get down off of y'all's high horses and stop harming conservatism. Griffon has very publicly quit the GOP because Gov. Jindal came too slowly to the position Griffon preferred on two issues? Months ago? And someone already started an abortive recall attempt at the time? And you, abb, moaned up a blue streak here on FR over it? And in the end y'all got what y'all wanted anyway? Please!

Bobby is giving great interviews promoting fiscal conservatism on Laura Ingraham and elsewhere. He's a young, rising star. And y'all want to tear him down because he's just not as smart and wise and pure as you?

I think this is just fanaticism and narcicism on the parts of you and Griffon and it is playing right into the hands of the leftists. You should stop it now!

“I personally don’t think Jindal is ready for prime time...”

I more than agree. And in fact, in the next few years, he may prove that he will never be ready for prime time.
