The late support for the tax cuts is possibly a larger question. Was he simply studying the issue or is he truly just a vocal conservative? Jindal may simply need to improve in his communication of his reasons for his actions.

I was in the middle of the Stelly Tax rollback and the Lege Pay Raise issue, lobbying legislators and providing research and communications for our side. Jindal had to be FORCED into the tax cut and the pay raise veto.

Governing in this republic is the art of compromise. He does need a certain amount of good will from the legislature.

How long has it been since the legislature had a raise? Did it make sense to support the raise? (unfortunately there is no merit raise policy for legislatures).

On the tax cut; where does La. stand in relationship to other states on taxes. A tax cut although almost always a good idea does not necessarily make sense if you are already very competitive and your state has just been hit by a hurricane.
