No doubt Latino voters (the legal ones anyway) figured out all was not kosher when "W" allowed Ramos and Compeon to be prosecuted for what amounted to administrative irregularities.
That one little case destroyed whatever trust he'd developed with them.

part of the reason for the “latino” vote is the fact many ARE IN HIGH RISK MORTGAGES!
it is the free stuff vote.

Dick Morris had once said a few years ago that once latino voters become a bigger voting bloc than African-Americans, that Republicans will never see the White House again. In 30 years there will only be two socialist parties - the Democrats and the Partidad de la Raza. Republicans will have gone the way of the Whigs and most conservatives will have emigrated to other countries.
It will resemble Canada with some states outlawing English (California, New Mexico, Arizona, Massachusetts (Gaelic), Virginia, Maryland, Colorado, Iowa). Politics will be a fight over which party promises the most welfare and handouts.
The last chance to stop the Hispanic takeover passed when the Republicans selected McCain and denied America a debate over illegal immigration. Now Obama and the Dems will open the valve for a flood of illegals who will be instantly made citizens and voters.
The irony is that the Dems will be creating their own demise, because once the Hispanic population reaches 51%, they will have no need for the Democrats.

Bush won Texas by 23% with Kerry getting 50% of the latino vote. McCain won it by 11% with Obama getting 63% of the latino vote. Rick Perry's doing everything within his power to destroy the Republican brand in Texas. He dropped from near 60% to 40% in one election cycle, and that's not demographics. That's policy.

Those of us who keep a constant eye on demographics saw this coming over 20 years ago and we have been fighting like crazy for a decent immigration policy. Most of the opposition has come from Democrats who see these new immigrants as adding their voter base. It was easy to see this if you can think ahead.
But many Republicans are in favor of large immigration as well. George W. Bush is just such a person. He is that stupid. You seen Bush's life will not change a bit because of high immigration. He will live behind gated walls and go to gated and guarded clubs. He won't have low riders in his neighborhood. He will have Secret Service protection for the rest of his life. Heck Bush would increase immigration if he could.
The writing was on the wall if you studied the elections since 1980 as I have. I looked beyond the numbers to see what groups voted Democratic and what groups voted Republican. I live in California and we are now a permanent Democrat state. We will always have 2 Democrat Senators and will deliver our 56 electoral votes to the Democrats. Republicans don't even bother to campaign here and neither do the Democrats. The Democrats don't need to spend a penny and the Republican could spend 10 Billion dollars here and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.
Demographics have determined that we will always be a Democrat state. There is simply no way that the immigrants who are coming are the types of people who will vote for a democratic republic. They are interested in handouts from government and that is that. No amount of money or persuasion will change their minds. This is why I feared this trend. 20 years ago when I expressed my concerns to some of my friends they laughed at me and called me racist and alarmist. Well they aren't laughing now. They realize I was correct and it was they who were wrong. We are in for some very difficult times.

“America would not be the great country that it currently is if it were not majority white. If, tomorrow, whites became the same on average as hispanics (or worse, blacks) in terms of education, criminality, and family values, the U.S. would immediately become a Third world country.”
America will be a white minority within the next 30-40 years. This will happen with or without your “racial awareness”. Personally, as a Hispanic, I find your comments disgusting and dead wrong. You obviously have your opinion, but I believe that people like you are what is driving minorities away from conservatism. Even as a conservative, I find it very difficult to stay on the same website as people who think like you.

What would have happened over the coarse of many years due to the lax of immigration policy and laziness and bipartisanship on the GOP side will be accelerated and a priority after January 22. The population demographics will immediately be altered by this administration to consolidate power beyond 2012. This is only part of the CHANGE that the moronic American voters have inflicted on us all. We will be forever changed.

No, but maybe defeat of “comprehensive immigration reform” in spite of support from McCain, Democrats, and Bush.
To: A_Former_Democrat
We could pass all of the anti-illegal immigration measures we want, but none of that will change the fact that America’s demographic profile has altered (unless you want to deport the US-born children of Latino/African/Asian immigrants). We either adapt, or fade into oblivion as “the old white man’s party.”

‘America will be a white minority within the next 30-40 years. This will happen with or without your racial awareness.’
Not if having 3 or more children once again became the norm among whites.
‘Personally, as a Hispanic, I find your comments disgusting and dead wrong.’
I understand why you don’t like them, but I don’t think they are wrong. Please point out which statements are incorrect. Btw I don’t think mass immigration of Indians would be good for the U.S. either.
At http://www.parapundit.com/archives/001959.html it says
‘while 75 percent of white students graduated from high school in 2001, only 50 percent of all Black students, 51 percent of Native American students, and 53 percent of all Hispanic students got a high school diploma in the same year. The study found that the problem was even worse for Black, Native American, and Hispanic young men at 43 percent, 47 percent, and 48 percent, respectively.
The graduation rates tell only half of this story. The other half is just how much did the students learn? When comparing only high school graduates those black and Hispanic students that do graduate score far lower on standardized tests of knowledge on average than white students that also graduate. So the picture is even grimmer than it first appears.’
If the fastest-growing racial groups have high school graduation rates of about 50%, and if even the high school graduates in those groups are far behind whites and Asians at the same level, America is in deep trouble. No Child Left Behind was designed to address this problem, but there is little evidence it is succeeding.

Nice, but, again, even if you could deport every illegal in the country, it DOES NOT change the fact that we either adjust to the changing demographics or we DIE as a movement.
All I hear on this site is "deport deport deport" without hearing how we can appeal beyond the current GOP base (which is losing a large number of WHITE people, btw).

BTW: The Latino vote was NOT responsible for McCain losing/almost losing Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, Iowa, and Virginia.

Amnesty is coming no matter what you do. It is now unstoppable. Unfortunately, Republicans have once again shot themselves in both feet by fighting a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants. The Dems will take full credit for its passage and will win the Latino vote by an even larger amount in 2012 making it very, very difficult for us to win the presidency from here on out.
Thank the xenophobic far right anti-Hispanic/ anti-immigrant rhetoric and the GOP's refusal to exile such extremists from the party for the current dire situation.

We lost the Hispanic vote because the GOP failed to rein in the hateful rhetoric of the extreme right. It will be many a moon before we see another Republican president thanks to the short-sightedness of the far right and the GOP leadership’s cowardice in telling them to take a hike.

I was saying the GOP should go after the “Hispanic anti-illegal immigrant vote.” By that I mean the Hispanics whose families have been in America since before America existed and who are Hispanic-Americans NOT the recent illegals who those Hispanic Americans hate with a passion.
To: Clemenza
I agree this deport attitude is not helpful and is a day late and a dollar short. The people who are saying this need a reality check for they have just been delegated to minority status n this country. If knowing our past helps determine our future then maybe we can come up with a solution. We know that most likely the country will be in recession for a year or two and maybe even longer if Obama gets his way. Their will be many suffering Latinos and the Republican party has to be ready to to offer a New Deal to the Latino population just as Roosevelt offered his new deal to new immigrants and to African Americans. This New Deal will have to be able to impact their economic situation immediately and provide hope for prosperity in their community. Also Republicans will have to openly promote Latinos within the party making them prominent members. This combined with Latinos natural tendencies to be pro life can pry many away form the democratic party. Planning would need to begin soon for the opportunity will come quick and pass away even quicker

No political party, especially the Republicans, should favor policies that explicitly favor any racial group. What do you have in mind? If your New Deal just means more social spending, the Democrats will always outbid the Republicans.
