Obama Planning U.S. Trials for Guantanamo Detainees (bringing them to the US!)
Fox News via AP ^ | Monday, November 10, 2008 | AP unsigned article

WASHINGTON -- President-elect Barack Obama's advisers are quietly crafting a proposal to ship dozens, if not hundreds, of imprisoned terrorism suspects to the United States to face criminal trials, a plan that would make good on his promise to close the Guantanamo Bay prison but could require creation of a controversial new system of justice.

During his campaign, Obama described Guantanamo as a "sad chapter in American history" and has said generally that the U.S. legal system is equipped to handle the detainees. But he has offered few details on what he planned to do once the facility is closed.

Under plans being put together in Obama's camp, some detainees would be released and many others would be prosecuted in U.S. criminal courts.

...

Laurence Tribe, a Harvard law professor and Obama legal adviser, said discussions about plans for Guantanamo had been "theoretical" before the election but would quickly become very focused because closing the prison is a top priority. Bringing the detainees to the United States will be controversial, he said, but could be accomplished.

The left has been wanting to do this for some time now.

Once they have installed the first King of the United States they will finally be able to make all of their dreams come true once the Ruler of this country is in place.

Excellent! Now we explain how we obtained evidence in a war zone. This should make our allies comfortable. /s

My God. What have we done?

"We" tried to stop it. All this now is squarely on the shoulders of all who supported Obama, and the handful of those on this site and other sites telling us to support and respect Obama. Those calling on us to support this guy are moles and/or morons. Support and respect is a two way street. Obama does not have a history of bi-partisanship. In fact just the opposite.

Tribe may be too old for Obama to nominate to the Court, Zerobama probably wants to leave his appointees in place for a couple of decades. Grrrrrr. I think Tribe is 67.

Very bad idea. It costs a fortune to provide security. And the defendants will tie up the court system in knots. If they’re going to do this, all trials should be in the ED for Virginia, where they did the John Walker Lindh and Moussaoui trials.

neither did most of the country vote for him

he won because of massive voter fraud especially here in FL and in swing states

he has millions upon millions of illegal donations of which no one is looking to stop in 4 years and which we will face again in 4 years unless the GOP actually get some balls and ban pre paid credit cards and other other way to bring in overseas money

then there is the blatant ignorant media who have done nothing but get their messiah into power

take those 3 away and he would not be where he is , infact he wouldn’t even be the Dem nominee

I disagree with your logic and reasoning on this. I DID NOT vote in Obama, and I am not to blame for him being in office now. I did what I could, with my God given right...and I voted for McCain.

Including those that did not vote for Obama in the category of the socialist, mindless sheeple that DID vote for him, and blaming everyone equally, is very ignorant.

And IMO, God has his hand on this and it is part of HIS plan for Obama to be where he is. None of us may understand or agree with it, but there is a reason.

"We" tried to stop it.

But "we" didn't. Therefore, "WE" are going to pay the consequences.

Americans (That's us) elected Obama. Americans (that's us) are going to have to live with the consequences of our (Americans) decision.

Unless you are no longer an "American" then you are numbered among the "WE"

"My God. What have we done?"

Those of us that voted for McCain have not done anything but tried to stop this man. Those that voted for him, voted third party or stayed home own this debacle.

nope

we were outnumbered by illegal votes

spent by millions of illegal money of which has to be stopped otherwise we will face millions more in 4 years

course there is the black racist community who came out the woodwork infact so bold were they that one admitted he voted more than once to CNN
two of them stood there in front of camera’s holding sticks
another said she won’t have to worry about gas in her car or pay her bills

He stole the Dem nomination in plain view and the media closed their eyes, put their fingers in their ears and sang “la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.”

No, you own it too. So do I. So does John McCain. All Americans own this debacle, because most Americans voted for it. As long as Americans are given the right to choose their leaders, they will get the government they ask for and they will get the government they deserve.

exactly

McCain should have done a recount in FL,OH, should have waited for the military votes to come in in VA,NC

course he wished obama well very quickly and obama knew he was going to win though his massive voter fraud

just in GA over a 100,000 voted in FL,OH
now imagine how many came to FL from NY,NJ,MA,RI,CT,VT,MD, to vote while they voted back in their state

FL needs to look at the voting rolls and make sure those snow birds do not do this again

leave their ignorant Dem voting back where they live and stop bringing it down here

I know it and it really pisses me off knowing all these people voted more than once

all these north easterners coming down to FL to vote using their getaway vacation address to vote here in FL

FL needs to stop it and the GOP needs to stop illegal donations other wise we will face all the same again in 4 years

There is no such thing as enemies anymore ...we are all one people....

"We are the woooooorld..... we are the childrennnnnnn...."

Well hey even the 'conservative' Sarah Palin is saying nice things about the Marxist now.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2129383/posts?page=36#36

Palin said she hoped to work with President-elect Barack Obama and Vice Present-elect Joe Biden on energy policy....“So we’ll reach out to Barack Obama and to the people who he surrounds himself with,” she said “A united effort that we certainly will be making here in order to secure our nation and allow us to be more prosperous.”...“It says all good things about our country, and the progress that we have made and the barriers that have come down,” she said. “I couldn’t be more proud of where we are today, you know, this minority status now being kind of propelled to the forefront, that’s healthy. … This is an historic moment. Barack Obama has been elected president,” she said. “And God bless Barack Obama and his beautiful family and the new administration coming in. It is time that we all pulled together and worked together.”
