OCALA, Fla. -- The owners of an Ocala business are accused of taking a racist swipe at president-elect Barack Obama. The NAACP of Florida calls the message on the company's marquee "horrific" and "insensitive."

Obama’s not from any ghetto.

Some people are so ignorant. It’s like when they go on and on about how Obama’s presidency is a win over the history of slavery. Obama has no history of slavery in his ancestry. His black father was from Kenya and went to elite East Coast schools. His white mother was from Kansas.

A VP doesn’t make that much. They call scads of middle managers VP’s at banks. Also, Hawaii was then and still is a very expensive place to live. The grandmother was solidly middle class. If she paid for Obama’s Harvard tuition out of her salar (which I doubt), it would be a sacrifice.

Also, if you look at the homes and neighborhoods they lived in over Obama’s time with his mother/grandmother (see Honolulu Advertiser from a few days back) it looks like the Dunns went DOWN the financial ladder rather than up. By the time Obama was college age, it doesn’t look like they were doing as well as in his early years.

I don’t think the parents or grandparents paid for Obama’s higher education ... seems I read somewhere who did. I’ll try to find it.

Insensitive? Maybe. Horrific? I'd say something like a beheading would be counted in the horrific category. This sign? No.

The NAACP is going to be real busy over the next four years being offended by stuff. They’re going to need more staff to cover all of the opportunities for being offended.
