The day after the election, on the quad of the university where I teach, a young lady wore one of those t-shirts with a visage of The One that has grown ever larger, with profile turned increasingly upward towards the heavens, as the campaign went on. The latest fashion statement was emblazoned “Commander in Chief” in shiny gold. She gathered with a professor, also in an Obama t-shirt, and other similarly attired students as they blared rap music from a boom box. Seldom have we seen such entrepreneurial spirit in the name of the advancement of peace and justice through a new leader. Obama’s image, in various artistic renditions, on my freshman students’ t-shirts has been sending me messages for months now....

Did you see the story on Fox News where the little boy was rebuked and corrected by his teacher after expressing support for John McCain?
Similarly, there was another story I saw on the news where these children wearing BHO tee-shirts with BHO’s logo of the rising sun were singing songs in praise of the Dear Leader.
And, of course, we know BHO wants to create a domestic civilian service corp. ACORN will undoubtedly serve as the model for these domestic militias.
All hail the ObamaYouth corp!

Obama’s reelection campaign strategy is already developed: “I tried to heal the country, but Bush REALLY screwed it up”.
Does anyone with an IQ over room temperature think that the MSM will fail to support that line? We are in for 8 years of Osama and 16+ years of Bush bashing. Jimmy Carter will be rehabilitated as a great and wise leader. We never fought against Oceania. War is peace. Taxes are patriotism. All hail the Great Leader!
The Professors will run and hide because they are cowards who loved to attack President Bush knowing, that unlike some of his predecessors, he would do nothing to them. They could pretend to themselves about how brave they were standing up to power, while facing no personal risk. Obama has already demonstrated a willingness to use government power to attack his opponents. Speaking out next year about real abuses of the Constitution, instead of imagined abuses, will result in real consequences.
Of course not, unless they're on a pointy-headed, 65-year-old, white, grey-haired, bearded Saab-driving liberal.
Boy, are you right. I’m in academe and I really think a lot of profs believe only a Dim will ‘properly’ fund research (read - blank check for whatever project I can dream up).
I think they have a surprise coming when they find out that in a poor economy, with reduced tax revenues and a population either out of work or already being taxed to the gills to fund social programs, there won’t be much left to study the tsi-tsi fly.
In my own field, we will lose the patronage of Laura Bush and most likely the big money over at the Institute of Museum and Library Services. No one here, not even the O supporters, thinks that just ‘cause O is in office that we will get the money we got under Bush.
