Prop. 8 victors upset by personal attacks
Sacramento Bee ^ | 11/12/8 | Jennifer Garza

Posted on 11/12/2008 8:08:35 AM PST by SmithL

Supporters of Proposition 8 won the election but now are frustrated because they are still fighting for their cause.

A week after a majority of voters passed the controversial measure to ban same-sex marriage, the conflict continues – in the courts, at protests and in personal attacks.

"I'm frustrated by what's going on," said Dave Leatherby, owner of the Leatherby Family Creamery in Sacramento, commenting on the protests and court battles.

"Let's move on. I always told my children that once a rule was made, you have to abide by it. I think it should be the same in this circumstance."

Leatherby and his family donated about $20,000 for the passage of Proposition 8. A devout Catholic and father of 10, Leatherby supported the measure for religious reasons. He said his business has been targeted by bloggers as a result, and that he is particularly confused because his business has participated in the annual gay pride Rainbow Festival.

"It saddens me that all this is happening," he said.

The battle over same-sex marriage will not end anytime soon. This week, 44 state legislators filed a friend-of-the-court brief on behalf of opponents of the gay-marriage ban. They maintain the initiative process was used improperly. The California Supreme Court could rule as early as this week on a lawsuit that seeks to invalidate Proposition 8, said court spokeswoman Lynn Holton.

Proposition 8 opponents said they will continue to fight for their civil rights.

"For them to say the voters have spoken and no one should question it is a bit disingenuous," said West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon. He cited repeated attempts to pass other initiatives. "They believe in the justice of their causes, that's why they return over and over again with the same proposal on parental notification."

Psst...hey jerkboy...they do not march to court nor do they mount street protests when they lose. They do not cry and whine or threaten. They try new arguments; they try again.
So STFU.

In just a week, many Californians and Americans are being subjected to Hate Crimes brought about by criminal gay deviates. Of course the gay controlled Sac Bee will not be telling us about the violence and threats from the Gay Nazis trying to overturen Prop 8.

We don’t march and threaten gays with axes, axe handles, ball bats and other weapons. As done by Hate Filled Gays in a church as shown in the picture linked below:

Nor do we threaten elderly gays and rip their rainbows away from them. However gays committed this hate crime against an elderly Christian woman as shown in the link below. There will be a short bumper ad before it starts:

We can boycott the corporations funding the repeal of Prop 8.

There are many corporations funding the repeal of Prop 8.
This link takes us right to the corporate sponsor page to repel Prop 8:

Boycotts can work for our side too.

Just shows they don't care how much you don't object to them living their lifestyle, if you reject something they REALLY want, they're going to trash you.
They'll demand tolerance from YOU, just don't ever expect it from THEM.

Then why vote....suck it up. I am totally fed up with whining, crying radicals!! Gosh, the conservatives would have accepted the vote had it gone the other way and moved on!!
All Religions define it as a man and woman...period! The only reason these gays want it called “marriage” is so they have to teach it at schools and brainwash innocent little kids....keep it up. People are fed up with your childish actions...even liberals!!

Is there not a single politician in California who is coming forth and saying “You Prop 8 supporters played by the rules. You exercised your right. You followed the process as set forth by the rule of law. You won. We, as your servants must now abide by your expressed and legal mandate.”???

I have yet to see one in a single news story. They’re all instead poking their collective finger in our eye.

Excellent point, TruthHound - like most politicians they are gutless and terrified of the homosexual mafia. They would rather allow 3-4% of the population to destroy an institution that has been around for thousands of years.

When has any politician ever said something that simple? It's just not part of their character make-up. But they are, in fact, powerless here--the decision is literally out of their hands and they do have to abide by the will of the people.

The courts, of course, are another story, because they don't serve the people. They serve Justice.

The Left is resorting to violence, intimidation and thuggery to overturn an election result it doesn't like.

For now, Leatherby said, Proposition 8 should stand. "If they want to win me over," he said, "that's not how to do it."

Even though his 'Family Creamery' adds a little humor to the story Mr. Leatherby is correct. I think he made a mistake many well-meaning people make by attempting to meet the opposition half way. Participating in the "rainbow" parade did him no good; these folks attacked him with a total lack of regard for his well-being and his gay friendly history. Gays will not be satisfied until they have eliminated the First Amendment.

The only reason these gays want it called “marriage” is so they have to teach it at schools and brainwash innocent little kids....keep it up.

They also want to silence criticism of their pathogenic sexual behavior, denying me my First Amendment Right. Add that to the list of their intentions to outlaw religious definitions of sin and marriage. And yes, ultimately to have better access to the children these deviants hope to manipulate.

It did and we have. President Obama? No on Prop 4? I will continue to fight the good fight withing the boundaries of civility. These guys idea of campaigning involves throwing bricks and calling names. I prefer to register voters and write letters to the editor.

So the people voted and gays don’t like the result, so they want the people to vote again. (presumably to vote the way the gays want them to vote.)

So can we try this? Have a do-over on the general election until the voters vote our way?
