California Musical Theatre director steps down

Scott Eckern, artistic director of the California Musical Theatre, is resigning his post and leaving the organization.

A boycott of the theater was called Tuesday by some in the national arts community when news broke that Eckern contributed $1,000 to the Yes on Proposition 8 campaign, which supported the ban on gay marriage.

The measure passed last week.

Scott Eckern said in a prepared release that he chose to express his view through the democratic process, and he was deeply sorry for any harm or injury he cause by doing so.

“I am leaving California Musical Theatre after prayerful consideration to protect the organization and to help the healing in the local theatre-going and creative community,” he said. “I am disappointed that my personal convictions have cost me the opportunity to do what I love the most.”

Poor guy didn't know that the democratic process doesn't apply here.

It looks like some industries are so thoroughly dominated by deviants that no decent person can work there.

If you're sure you're right, and you're paying a price because you're right, don't apologize to the mob that has come to lynch you. If its too late to fight or run, stand up and take it like a man. And don't apologize.

A musical theater director giving money to an anti-gay measure? Doesn’t he know his audience?

Dems dump their “moderates”.

Reps put them at the top of the ticket.

I doubt that’s the real reason he quitting - probably since he was ratted out on a donation he didn’t want to be investigated like Joe the Plumber.

“Doesn’t he know his audience?”

His “audience” probably consists of families. It is his workforce that is the problem. The inmates have completely taken over that particular asylum.

The payback will come in the form of a US Constitutional Amendment to define marriage. That’s the only way to stop this crap for right now.

“I am disappointed that my personal convictions have cost me the opportunity to do what I love the most.”

Disappointed, but I get the feeling he knew the potential cost and did the right thing anyway. That’s courage.

Will never happen, especially now that the Rats are going to have full run on the joint. Besides it was already tried years back with a more “conservative” Congress and they wouldn’t even pass it. Even McCain voted NO and said it was “a State issue”. Thanks for nothing RINOS.

When do pro-Sodomy employers and Corporations start combing the donation lists to weed out employees and prospective employees for taking a stand for traditional and Biblical marriage?

Do his personal opinions have to reflect the audience that pays to see the shows?

Only in Kollifornia . . .
