He would have been, if the economy had tanked. He lucked out.

Perhaps, but then wouldn't he/they just play the racist card, and/or the "Don't blame me. I inherited this mess from Bush" excuse?

Never under-estimate the persistence of the MSM to remain in the tank and the stupidity of the American voter.

And the unending behind-the-scenes work of the Rat machine and bureaucrats to undermine the Constitution. Executive orders and SCOTUS appointments will be the weapons used to turn America into something resembling Putin's puppet regime.

As Josef Stalin is credited with saying: "Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything."

What happened in ‘36 and ‘40, then?

I think his first preference would be to be President for Life, like Chavez or Mugabe or Tito...failing that, to get unlimited terms (but that would require getting rid of that pesky 22nd amendment), or maybe having Michelle pull a Lurleen in 2016. Maybe 16 years would be enough...time to groom an acolyte to carry on, like Medvedev for Putin.

The bigger danger is that US national politics will be Chicago writ large...one-party corrupt control, with elections that the dominant party can't lose.

“Is this prediction based on the same formula that claimed Obama could not possibly win and that McCain will take it in a landslide?”

Was that prediction made before or AFTER sept. 15th? or do you think the CRASH had nothing to do with this monumental ZERO getting elected. Licoln couldn’t have won in this maelstrom. C’mon, get off it...

Hey, you left out the prognostications about all the Shrillary voters blind with rage who would turn to McCain, and that the traditional, family oriented Mexicans wouldn’t vote for an abortion candidate.

Exactly.

There were folks on this group claiming there was no way Obama could win. Then they blame the media. Then the blame McCain, who was not a “true believer”. Then they blame the RINOs. Then they blame whatever.

Get a clue folks! While I think Romney would have run a tighter campaign and I would agree more with Fred Thompson, McCain was probably our best shot in these tough times and he got spanked. We were out-fundraised (possibly some but not a material amount illegal), out-organized, out-enthusiasmed, and out-campaigned. (Yes, there was corruption and double-dealing in elections (like MN senate) but, as I say to kids playing soccer “never put yourself in a place where the ref can lose the game for you.”)

I agree with most Freepers philosophically, but your predictive skills are zilch! In four years, the economy will likely pull out of its nose-dive, not thanks to the DemonRats, but they will take credit for it. With the power the Dems have now, they can solidify their ACORN/Union/Hollywood/MSM/alternative life style power base for decades.

We have a lot of blue-state Pubbie senators up in 2010, and that’s what you should worry about - fighting for each and every one (oh, that’s right, you don’t care because they are not true believers - remember that a 66-34 senate can pass constitutional amendments). What will you say when the Dems pass gay marriage and ERA: “sure glad we got rid of those RINOs”.

Time to man up folks. The American people are not going to hand anything to the Pubbies ever again. The Dems have learned from the days of Gore and Kerry. The Dems focused on down-ticket posts, like Secretary of State (quite useful them them and Al Franken in MN BTW), while we thought value and character would carry the day. Did anyone learn anything from Dole vs. Clinton? We’re going to have to earn everything we get from now on.

currently the law requires that you’re in the US as a legal resident for 5 years before taking the test to become a citizen.

Is this prediction based on the same formula that claimed Obama could not possibly win and that McCain will take it in a landslide?

Who was predicting a McCain landslide after the Wall Street meltdown?

If you're this pessimistic, we'll have to put you on a suicide watch.

The reality is the party in the White House almost always gets blamed for anything wrong with the country. The Democrats lost 500 seats nationwide under Clinton. Republicans lost most of the seats back at the end of Bush's term.

Couple that with the fact what Obama says he will do is going to make the economy much worse, there is ever reason to believe 2010 and 2012 will be good years for Republicans, provide they get back to conservatism. Let's just hope permanent damage hasn't been done to the country at that point.

I wouldn't’t be so sure. After 1994, I would have guessed Clinton would have been tossed out too.

Clinton moved sharply rightward after 1994 to save his rear. I don't see Obama doing the same. Obama's personality reminds me of Carter and I expect he will govern similarly.

Folks just don't seem to understand who the enemy is and now they are in control. Deeply ingrained voter fraud has been going on for years. They almost won in 2000 and 2004 because of it and they did win this time because of it. Until we root out the fraudulent voters presently on the rolls and stop the practice in the future there will never be another honest election.

Research the Cloward-Piven strategy and you will understand better what you are experiencing. Spend time on David Horowitz's Discover the Networks.org and learn more.

They purposely destroyed our economy, and are in the process of destroying SS, health care, our tax system, our schools, our churches, and our society in general. We may never get them out of power now that they are in.

Democrats in Congress were tossed out in 1994.

Seriously, let’s see who emerges as the party leader in the next two years before we start picking the ticket. I love Sarah as much as anyone, but I want to see who formulates a media strategy and pushes themselves to the front of the herd among Sarah, Jindal, and DeMint.

Exactly! The DUmmies have done their job well over the years. Just go to any site where comments are re: anything remotely Republican or Conservative, and that is what you will find-lies, hate, name-calling. Intelligence is nowhere to be found. The amount of mental midgets out in the country astounds and worries me.

They (our side) said the same thing about Clinton.

I don't remember anyone in 1994 expecting Republicans to win back Congress since it happened in 40 years. But, it happened. And, Republicans won 500 seats nationwide during the Clinton years.

Obama isn't likely to have the economy Clinton had in 1996, either. If he does what he says he will, we'll be looking at the Carter economy of 1980.

That’s correct IMO. Needs to start from the States and cause the National to happen. States is where it starts for our recovery.

We can thank Dick Morris for that with his “triangulation” strategy.

Don’t be so certain that he will be a one term guy.
No one expected him to beat Hillary.
The turn of events in the economy put him in the black house.

Hey Louis Farrakhan said that the President’s home was given the name white house because they hated the slaves...

I’m just being pc.
