I think this has a real sour grapes appearance. We lost the election. Many people are very ecstatic about this historic election. Calling to get a credit record for his recently deceased Grandmother seems so intrusive and rude.

Ordinarily I'd agree with your sentiments. Yes, the election is over and the people have spoken. In our system we HAVE to respect the results, or chaos ensues.

However.

In this particular case, candidate Obama and his campaign not only didn't proactively disclose information that might reflect badly on him/their candidate (like every other campaign in history - that is to be expected), he/it actively hid, denied, lied about, covered up, etc. nearly all information about Obama's past. This guy is the most mysterious candidate, soon to be POTUS, that I can remember in my lifetime - and history tells me that he's number one on the hit parade (and I'll gladly stand corrected if you or someone else has contrary information). Quite simply, he didn't tell us who he REALLY was and is, and did so for a reason - because he knows that there's something (or several somethings) there that would have caused us to reject him.

Guess what? This guy is going to be the President, barring some really, really strange circumstances. I as a citizen want to know who - EXACTLY - is being entrusted with so much power. Yes, the preferred time to know this is prior to an election, but we citizens have a right to know just the same. That we won't be able to do much about reducing his power (should the public decide that such is the correct thing to do) until 2010, and that we won't be able to promote him to the position of Ex-President until 2012, is immaterial. Note that one could always make the argument that the 2012 election process began on November 5, and that questions about one of the most likely candidates are being asked NOW.

His grandmother is gone. I hope that she had a fulfilling life and died as peacefully as possible. I give my condolences to her family, including Obama (despite my extreme distaste for his politics and his method of getting elected). However, having someone research whether Obama lied on his Selective Service application is a legitimate tool of his political opponents. Now that his grandmother is gone, her privacy CANNOT be violated, so that is another research avenue that has opened up - one that I would never even think about had she still been among the living.

Please keep in mind that our political opponents know no such boundaries. If you have doubts, look at how "Joe the Plumber" had his privacy ripped to shreds. He just asked a simple question, he wasn't running for anything. Obama is doing more, and he knew going into this profession that he'd be open to all kinds of scrutiny. Clearly he knew it - because he's done a masterful job of hiding that which is "inconvenient" to him. But he must be outed - the American people MUST know who he is and everything even remotely relevant to his qualifications to be President and to his judgment. Better late than never.

Also, from the comments at the DS site, it appears that “pajamasmedia” got played by the wonk.

One cannot be ^hired^ for an executive branch position but Opossum was never hired...he was always elected.

Please keep in mind that our political opponents know no such boundaries. If you have doubts, look at how "Joe the Plumber" had his privacy ripped to shreds.

And look at how we responded to such attacks; with righteous indignation. I hope Joe the Plumber takes full advantage of every legal remedy available to him.

I expect the opposition research to discreetly continue to investigate this very mysterious 'World President' but I think calls on political websites such as this to investigate his dead grandmother seem destine to backfire and do more harm to our cause in the long run.
