I think many liberals kept their Gore and Kerry signs and bumper stickers up way after their losses because they viewed Bush’s presidency as illegitimate because of Florida in 2000. They thought that somehow, in ways nobody would ever know, Bush really lost and Gore really won. Therefore, since his 2000 victory was illegitimate, so was his 2004 victory, and they kept their signs and bumper stickers up as a show of spite.

But now, Bush is out, and Obama clearly won a majority, and so there’s no need to be spiteful in that way anymore. There are other ways to be.

The Obama signs stayed up longer than they should. It was tacky. I see a lot of new Obama bumper stickers on cars

That plastic burning would probably violate several clean air ordinances.

I still see cars with Kerry stickers. If someone is intellectually lazy enough to vote for these schmucks then it would follow that they’re too dull to remove their signs and stickers.

Good idea.

A "V" might become more appropriate:

Ha. I guess it depends on where you are. Around here they keep them for as long as they will last - heck, there's still Kerry and Gore signs & stickers and Kucinich too. And that woman. That card carrying leftist baby killer establishment woman (who would want me to mention her name) who was just barely re-elected mayor here.

Yesterday I was at an undisclosed location (NOT Eugene), a real redneck town in a real redneck county full of real rednecks, looking at a new opportunity and various homes. I was pleased to see very few of those offending stickers & signs. Hopefully things will work out.

Happy birthday Grampa Dave (I'm a grampa Dave too)!

Most of the Dhimmie signs are gone here, but I still have this one on my bumper....

Really pisses off the Volvo drivers here in town...

One of my neighbors must be a rabid fan — they had FOUR signs in their yard! (They are on a corner lot, so they got us from two sides!) After the election, they put blue and white balloons on the signs for about a week. Now, the signs are in their windows!! I wonder how long they will keep the signs up. Happy B-Day!!

“Those signs will rise up out of a landfill!”

I will probably put one of those up early in 2009.

Maybe we should get 100’s of those BO bumper stickers and plaster them inside of porta-potties everywhere! Put them in “desirable” locations, for target practice or just general disgust.

As a fellow Loudoun county resident, I was sad to see the county turn blue. Ever since Poisson came on the scene and defeated Black, the county has been tilting left.

The 5 block street he lives on had a lot of Obama signs, and they came down over this weekend.

I do not know if it is buyer's remorse or not. My take on it in my neighborhood is that people realize they still need to be neighbors and it is time to move on. My neighborhood is on the conservative side of center, and most people show respect to others. There are only a few loud mouthed liberals. I suspect where I live is not the norm, however.

The local "Dave and Busters" had a trade in offer for free video game tokens for each sign brought in the day after the election. I saw college students in pick up trucks out picking up ALL signs as soon as the polls closed.

The nut job down my street ( MIHOP-Ron Paul supporter) had switched to Obama after the primary. He still has a huge home made sign in his yard, printed on the back of a Diocese of St. Augustine Banner. he plastered the phone pole near my driveway with home made "Republicans for Obama" signs which have faded into purple Rorschach tests in the recent rain...

In a few years, it’’ll be like France after WWII. Nobody was a collaborator, everybody was in the resistance.

My town has a “down in 3 days” rule for lawn signs, etc. I imagine many towns are sick of the election signs staying up. Of course, I STILL see idiots on the road with Kerry/Edwards bumper stickers.

They are afraid of the hooded, white racist, red neck, KKK groups driving by in a pickup truck, with beer cans rattling around in the truck bed, shooting their guns at their houses. Haven't you seen all those drive by shootings by red necked white sheets on their heads???

Never were very many in the DFW area. Even before the election there were very few yard signs and only a few bumper stickers, the bulk of which seemed to be on the stereotypical hippymobile with rock band decals in the rear window, blue smoke out the tailpipe, radio blasting and the driver talking on the cell phone. And of course a few Volvo yuppiemobiles with the driver sipping a Starbucks double latte.

Seriously, while about 30% of local voters went for “the one,” by and large they kept a pretty low profile.

The biggest shock was when the local fishwrap (Fort Worth Star-Telegram) endorsed Obama. Everyone knew the FWST’s management bias, the surprise was that they would give up a big portion of their remaining subscribers along with what little credibility they still have with the public.
