Gay rights boycott urged at rally
The Fresno Bee ^ | November 16, 2008 | Eddie Jimenez

Hundreds of supporters of same-sex marriage gathered at Fresno City Hall on Saturday, vowing not to back down in their fight against Proposition 8 and urging a boycott of businesses that helped fund the initiative. They weren't alone. Coast-to-coast, crowds gathered near public buildings in small communities and major cities including New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Chicago to vent their frustrations, celebrate gay relationships and renew calls for change.

In Fresno, protesters turned their attention to what comes next. Matthew Payne of Fresno compared the same-sex marriage ban to former laws against biracial marriages and women's right to vote. He and other speakers vowed not to stop until same-sex marriages are legal again in California.

"We're not going to go back," Payne told the crowd, which a security officer estimated at about 500.

Supporters of Prop 8 are targeted. If you had a Yes on Prop 8 sign in your front yard, watch your back.

Sounds like the “gay” guys aren’t very gay right now. What a bunch of hate-filled people.

Just for that, gay activists, I’m going to boycott the Home and Garden Channel.

Spending my whole life in apartments (literally), I have no feel for the yard sign dynamic. Is there pressure to have a sign at all, let alone one for a particular side?

Well, there were a whole bunch of instances where the Yes of Prop 8 signs and properties where posted were vandalized, and there was some violence.

Seems like some resturants can begin proudly advertising as “Gay Free”.

We all need to be vigilant. These hateful people, sore losers will never be persuaded by custom or reason to leave things well enough as they are. If they push, we push right back.

You do realize the mods know who adds keywords, don’t you? You will not get a third warning about attempts at thread hijacking on Prop 8 threads.

It has nothing to do with civil rights. It’s about human nature and people who are acting against human nature.

More events are planned. Among them is "A Day Without a Gay," set for Dec. 10. Those who are gay are being asked not to spend money for a day to show the effect they have on the economy. Organizers also hope participants will take a day off from work, preferably using vacation time.

"Don't call in sick," McGehee said at the rally. "You can call in gay."

And the difference is.....?

Boycotts work both way, homos. Not only can we -- who outnumber you 50 to 1 -- boycott business that TOLERATE you, we can boycott the businesses that EMPLOY you.

Your day is over, butt surfers. The backlash that's coming will have you running for the closet.

70% of African Americans backed Prop. 8, exit poll finds

"A lot of Obama/Yes-on-8 voters? The Associated Press exit polls show that African Americans and Latinos backed Proposition 8 in good numbers. Details here from AP:

California's black and Latino voters, who turned out in droves for Barack Obama, also provided key support in favor of the state's same-sex marriage ban. 7 in 10 black voters backed [Prop 8], according to exit polls for The Associated Press. More than half of Latino voters supported Proposition 8."
