War On Terror: The closing of our prisoner-of-war camp at Guantanamo Bay is high on the agenda of the new administration. Will the detainees soon be free to return to the battlefield or roam our streets?
If Gitmo goes, the detainees awaiting trial likely would not be held in U.S. jails or prisons since they have not been found guilty of anything. Would a new facility be built in the U.S.? If so, where? We doubt anyone would lobby to have one built in his or her community. It would become an immediate terrorist target.
Could many be held at all? Giving enemy combatants captured on the battlefield the same rights as an American citizen creates all sorts of problems. The Pentagon concedes there is insufficient evidence to charge many of the 250 detainees with the crime of terrorism. Nor is it likely that prosecutors will soon be scouring the mountains of Tora Bora looking for witnesses or taking affidavits.
In June, the Supreme Court ruled in Boumediene v. Bush that Gitmo detainees are entitled to seek their freedom through federal habeas corpus cases. Last month, federal Judge Ricardo Urbina ordered 17 Chinese Uighers captured in Afghan terrorist camps to be produced in his courtroom. He intended to release them to the Washington, D.C., Uigher community. Fortunately, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals issued an injunction blocking the move.

Once these maggot farmers are delivered to CONUS-Jima, they should be temporarily housed in the basements of the judges of who are in favor of this travesty until their trials.

Pur only hope is that Obama screws up the place so badly he is ejected from office in 4 years. Gitmo is one of those potential screwups. If one of these loons is released on American streets and mass kills, the political repercussions would be severe.
The ruling by the SC and Obama’s election guarantees that soldiers will be less willing to take prisoners. In the end the terrorists will sent on a 72-Virgin Express.
They’ll be released on American streets.
Then promptly given citizenship.
