WASHINGTON --- In a major win for environmentalists, a committee of House Democratic leaders on Wednesday voted to put Rep. Henry Waxman in charge of a key panel that will have oversight over global warming issues in the new Congress.

The House Steering committee voted 25-22 to put the California Democrat in charge of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, replacing Michigan Democratic Rep. John Dingell, the most senior member in the House.

The House Democratic caucus will vote on Thursday.

The Waxman-Dingell battle has been closely watched on Capitol Hill. Waxman is regarded as an ally of environmentalists while Dingell has ties to the auto industry. He has resisted higher fuel standards and tighter limits on greenhouse gases.

...while Dingell has ties to the auto industry...

He's a representative from Michigan. What ties did they expect him to have?

In a secret ballot, of course. This is something that is too good for unions.

In this particular post, this switch is a disaster. Dingell at least tried to keep industry alive, even if for corrupt reasons. Waxman has no such interests. Major economic damage will be done under his leadership. And the party will support him, as this vote demonstrates.

the good news is the left is setting the table to WAY over-reach. We need to do are part and be prepared to communicate that to the American people.

He and the Frankster are perfect Commies to run the ship aground.

When we finally re-take this nation, it will incur much, much pain to the Left.

Dingell refused to carry the global warming water for the Congressional Marxists. Hence, he has to go.
