He said, "We'll put an amendment in which will address his specific problem..."I know that I am supposed to show respect to my national leaders, but this one comment seemed odd, as though, he was trying to quell the debate by offering this fellow special favor.Sola/Dingell at 6:59

Here is video of a man telling Neil Cavuto yesterday that a person at Democrat John Dingell's recent Town Hall Meeting in Michigan seen carrying an "Obama as Hitler" sign was also seen after the event outside handing out Dingell literature. The man said, "it appears he was part of the Dingell operation to start with." It has become a fashionable Democrat talking point this week to say the anti-ObamaCare protesters showing up at events are carrying "Swastikas" or that they are "Nazis." . . . . . (Watch Video)

Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Steny Hoyer have called the constituents speaking out against ObamaCare at town halls “un-American,” and that didn’t slow them down. Will calling them “racists” do it? MS-NBC’s Ed Schultz tosses a softball to Rep. John Dingell (D-MI), last seen being flummoxed by his own constituents last week. At the time, Dingell dismissed his critics as “infiltrators.” Today, they’re the equivalent of the Ku Klux Klan (via The Weekly Standard): What message has the House Democratic leadership sent this week to voters in their district? If you show up to town halls to criticize us, you’re...

John Dingell (D-Mich) on MSNBC: Well, the last time I had to confront something like this was when I voted for the civil rights bill and my opponent voted against it. At that time, we had a lot of Ku Klux Klan folks and white supremacists and folks in white sheets and other things running around causing trouble. Note to Think Progress: You're supposed to blog about things that will hurt Republicans, not Democrats. George Soros is going to be very very angry at you.

Last night, we highlighted the completed ineptness of Rep. John Dingell (the "Dean of the House) of Michigan. Today, he played the race card when criticizing those against socialized medicine. Appearing on the ultra-liberal, but seldom watched Ed Schultz's show, Dingell compared his foes to the Klu Klux clan. Really, this man needs to read his health care bill and figure out how he can die with dignity, because the old man is completely out-of-touch with the real world. The good people of Michigan should get rid of this guy and give someone else a chance.

Salt and LightSola Civis The year 2008 brought us Joe the Plumber. This year 2009 brings us Mike the Citizen. Watch this video! Don’t you just love the response of Congressman Dingell? Lie to the constitutent’s face and then question his integrity behind his back. Congressman Dingell, you sir are no gentlemen. In fact you are to be abhorred. And you need to retire. You website says: On February 11, 2009, Congressman Dingell became the longest serving Member in the history of the U.S. House of Representatives. You have been there far too long.

Man gets threatened by Obama thugs for standing up for his handicapped son at Michigan town hall.

After the meeting ended and when everyone was leaving this same man was handing out Dingal campaign flyers.Sorry no link, I'm on my Palm but maybe someone can download it from Fox and post the link. This is big!

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cornish are on Cavuto. They are Dems who are angry at how Dingell and others are ramming ObamaCare down our throats. According to them, only SEIU/ACORN people were ushered into Dingell's town meeting. They had the first four rows reserved for Obama supporters. Non-supporters were crowded into the back of the room or blocked from entering. No anti-Obamacare signs were allowed. The four rows of union thugs made sure the cameras could not see anyone else or record what they were saying. Finally, when frustrated opponents in the back of the room tried to ask questions,...

Here is video of a Father, who confronted Democrat Rep. John Dingell last week at a Health Care Town Hall Event, talking about his experience with Fox News' Megyn Kelly. The father, who has a son who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, said he and his family are being harassed now by what he called "thugs" of Government Health Care proponents: "I want to address something to Ms. Pelosi, Mr. Hoyer - whatever his name is - and Mr. Reid. If you call my son "un-American" - your thugs already know where we live. We've had a visit from them -...

Mike Sola of Michigan demands that U.S. Rep. John Dingell (D-Michigan) explain why his son Scott, who has cerebral palsy, would not be covered under health insurance reform legislation. They were later escorted out by police.

Fellow Freepers: Oh damn, someone p***ed off Mike Sola--Rep. Dingle-D MI better watch out. Imagine an old fart like Mike who loves his handicapped son enough to confront that old fraud in Congress at a "Town hall Meeting." God bless Sola (Pelosi calls him and his kind unamerican--sign me up in that club!) and keep him safe from the Dem thugs. (Sola is now getting late night threats against his life and the life of his son--he promises to do whatever is necessary-You go Mike!!!!.) I have a thought why can't local folks kinda keep a vigil around the Sola...

Mike Sola, who spoke out at Rep. Dingell's town hall meeting in defense of his son who is sick with cerebral palsy, is being threatened with injury or death by Obama supporters. After speaking out against Dingell at the town hall, and after Dingell LIED about an "amendment" that would prtotect his son, persons unknown have been coming onto his property at night and terrorizing Sola and his wife and calling for the death of Sola's son. Sola said that if he catched them, he will kill them, even if it means his going to prison. These Obama gangsters know...

Mike Sola confronted his Congressman Dingell at a Townhall and says he's been visited in the middle of the night by thugs at his house. On Americas Newsroom just now he goes "I challenge you thugs to come visit me in the middle of the day. If I catch you on my property I will use lethal force and will kill you. I will go to prison" This guy is great!

You can find protest video like this from across the country. What is particularly instructive about this one is the comment by Congressman John Dingell at the end of the video when he is talking to reporters. He says the town hall has been "infiltrated" as though there isn't a massive anti-nationalized healthcare uprising in the country. This is a FANTASTIC VIDEO!

The anger at the town hall debates is turning very confrontational and even dangerous. At this town hall in Tampa there was a near riot.

I attended the John Dingell Town Hall on Health Care this evening in Romulus Michigan. The even was not promoted beforehand, yet more than 600 people showed up. The meeting was held in a room that only held 150 people. The first few rows were mostly Dingell Supporters, who, were NOT outside waiting with the rest of us. See my blog for more info. Here is one of the videos:

U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Dearborn, is holding a health care town hall at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Romulus Athletic Center, 35765 Northline Road in Romulus, and there are plans by right wing thugs, stealthy organized by a rightwing lobbyist group, to disrupt the meeting. MSNBC host Rachel Maddow reported last night on a plan by the Washington, DC-based, rightwing think tank and lobbying firm Freedom Works, chaired by former U.S. House Majority Leader and rightwing Republican Dick Armey, to disrupt town hall meetings as members of Congress return to the district for summer break and meet with constituents. If anyone might have the right to revel in a bit of health-care schadenfreude, it’s John Dingell. Nancy Pelosi and Henry Waxman ought to feel lucky he’s foregone the pleasure. -- snip -- Mr. Waxman and Mrs. Pelosi head into recess with one comatose climate bill and one wounded health-care project. Now comes the long hot summer month where the nation gets to think about this some more. If the speaker wants to make use of her vacation, she could always get on the phone to Michigan. Mr. Dingell might have some advice.

broad consensus on the contours of legislation to remake the nation’s health care system appeared to be developing among Democratic leaders on Tuesday as three House committee chairmen outlined a bill generally similar to one being written in the Senate. Democratic leaders in both houses said they would require individuals to carry insurance and employers to help pay for it. But they have yet to decide how to raise the necessary tax revenue. Leaders in both chambers said they wanted to establish a new public health insurance program, which would compete with private insurers. But they have not settled on...

After weeks of White House threats and media cover-up, Chrysler’s remaining debt holders got their day before the Supreme Court Tuesday . . . and lost. The decision was no surprise to legal experts who say Chrysler’s restructuring was simply too far down the road to reverse. No doubt, this entire episode would have been different if a Republican administration had sought to rip up bankruptcy laws to benefit political allies. The media watchdog would have barked, fundamentally changing the playing field. While the White House claimed victory, the plaintiff Indiana pension funds at least scored points that may protect...

Rep. John D. Dingell (D-Mich.) today becomes the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives in history, but his honor comes just as his colleagues have effectively declared that his time of grand power has passed. As he eclipses the 53-year-and-two-month tenure of former congressman Jamie Whitten (D-Miss.), Dingell's 19,420-day career representing the western suburbs of Detroit has been remarkable not just in length but also in accomplishments. The 82-year-old held the gavel in 1965 when the House passed the legislation that created Medicare, he helped write the 1973 Endangered Species Act, and he led dozens of investigations into waste...

A group of Republicans and Democrats may vote for Michigan Democratic Rep. John Dingell to be the new House speaker in shows of defiance against their own party's leadership.A number of Republicans and some Democrats are considering a protest vote against Nancy Pelosi for House speaker when lawmakers convene Tuesday afternoon to launch the 111th Congress, FOX News has learned. Once the House is sworn in, one of its first orders of business is to elect a speaker, a vote taken by the entire Congress. The vote usually goes along party lines. Pelosi will run for the Democrats while Republicans...

As long as I can remember Rep. John Dingell, D-MI, was one of the toughest committee chairmen in the Congress. His father preceded him in U.S. Congress during the Great Depression. I had the pleasure of visiting with him one day while Republicans controlled the Congress. He made it clear he was staying around because he again wanted to be a committee chairman.

Forget the Republican filibuster and the race to 60. The real fight in the next Congress is Democrats vs. themselves. With nearly complete control of Washington for the first time in three decades, Democrats are entering a treacherous power zone in which many of their priorities could easily be undone by the geographic, demographic and ideological factions that compete for supremacy within the party. Unless Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) can whip their caucuses into unity, numerous fault lines will be revealed: Southern Democrats vs. Northern liberals on labor law; California greens vs....

Henry Waxman moved to consolidate his coup d'etat at the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee just hours after he was installed as the new chairman this week. It appears that the California liberal, with his customary subtlety, is plotting a night of the climate-change long knives... Now his lieutenants, who've been known to share his views, are targets too. ... But the Dingell ally who should be looking over his shoulder most nervously is Rick Boucher, chairman...

By a vote of 137-22 among Democrats in the House of Representatives Thursday, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., ousted Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., as the chairman of the House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee. Waxman's victory is a seismic event on Capitol Hill, as he has unseated one of the most powerful members of Congress, who since 1981 has been the top Democrat on the influential Energy and Commerce Committee. But it was not entirely unexpected. Wednesday, the party's panel that votes on committee chairmanships gave Waxman the nod by a 25-22 vote. However, it's also a signal that Democrats...

Representative Henry A. Waxman wrested the chairmanship of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee from Representative John D. Dingell on Thursday in a coup that is expected to accelerate passage of energy, climate and health legislation backed by President-elect Barack Obama. Mr. Waxman, 69, of California, who mounted a quiet but devastatingly effective two-week campaign against his longtime Democratic colleague, won the chairmanship with a 137-to-122 vote in the Democratic Caucus. The vote was secret, but many allies of Speaker Nancy Pelosi backed Mr. Waxman’s move, and several members said they had voted on the assumption that Ms. Pelosi...

Sitting chairmen are nearly impossible to depose, never mind one with the seniority and record of Mr. Dingell, who has served longer than anyone else in the House. The Democratic caucus nonetheless stripped him of his 28-year position atop the Energy and Commerce Committee, which has great power over the climate change and health-care bills that Mr. Obama hopes to pass next year. Instead, California's Henry Waxman, who was elected by a reported 137 to 122, will do the honors. (We say "reported" because the vote was by secret ballot, which in a rich irony Democrats want to prevent for...

WASHINGTON – Rep. Henry Waxman — a liberal ally of Speaker Nancy Pelosi — has wrested the chairmanship of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee from veteran Rep. John Dingell when the new Congress convenes in January. Waxman, a California liberal and avid environmentalist and booster of health care programs, toppled Dingell Thursday on a vote of 137-122 in the Democratic Party caucus, capping a bitter fight within party ranks. Dingell has been the top Democrat on the panel for 28 years and is an old-school supporter of the auto industry. Waxman has complained that the committee has been...

Waxman dethrones Dingell as chairman By: Patrick O'Connor November 20, 2008 10:58 AM EST California Rep. Henry A. Waxman on Thursday officially dethroned longtime Energy and Commerce Chairman John Dingell, upending a seniority system that has governed Democratic politics in the House for decades. In a secret ballot vote in the Cannon Caucus Room, House Democrats ratified an earlier decision by the Steering and Policy Committee to replace the 82-year-old Dingell with his 69-year-old rival. The vote was 137-122 in favor of Waxman. The ascension of Waxman, a wily environmentalist, recasts a committee that Dingell has chaired since 1981 with...

Waxman unseats Dingell as House energy committee chairTo the delight of many environmental groups across the country, California Democrat Henry Waxman has ousted fellow Democrat John Dingell of Michigan from his post as chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The 255-member House Democratic conference voted 137 to 122 Thursday to replace Rep. Dingell, a close ally of the auto industry, with Waxman, a longtime champion of environmental causes. The vote places Waxman in charge of a panel with one of the broadest jurisdictions of any congressional committee, responsible for legislative oversight relating to consumer protection, food and...

Waxman wrestles gavel from Dingell By Mike Soraghan Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) will become the next chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee after House Democrats voted to replace current Chairman John Dingell (D-Mich.). Waxman won 137-122 in the secret ballot vote. The dramatic intra-party showdown for the coveted position signals a leftward turn for the Democratic agenda. The outcome was a blow to the seniority system and a victory, at least in perception, for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). Though her aides denied it, many saw the hand of Pelosi in Waxman’s challenge for the post, which conveys...

WXYZ) ABC News is reporting that House Democratic leaders have voted to strip Michigan Representative John Dingell of his chairmanship of the House Energy and Commerce committee. Dingell is the longest serving Democratic member of the House.

WASHINGTON --- In a major win for environmentalists, a committee of House Democratic leaders on Wednesday voted to put Rep. Henry Waxman in charge of a key panel that will have oversight over global warming issues in the new Congress. The House Steering committee voted 25-22 to put the California Democrat in charge of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, replacing Michigan Democratic Rep. John Dingell, the most senior member in the House. The House Democratic caucus will vote on Thursday. The Waxman-Dingell battle has been closely watched on Capitol Hill. Waxman is regarded as an ally of environmentalists while...

No one outside of Washington Beltway types seems to be paying attention to a fight in a small corner of Congress. That's unfortunate, because whoever wins will set the tone not only of the 111th Congress but will determine in large part how the Obama administration will fare in its critical first two years. The clash is for boss of one of the most powerful positions in the new Congress, the chairmanship of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The challenger is Rep. Henry Waxman, an outspoken California Democrat; the lion who is (barely) holding onto his scepter is Rep....

The choice of Phil Schiliro , a longtime investigator for Representative Henry Waxman who will serve in the Obama administration as the head of the White house legislative affairs office, does not bode well for Obama's stated goal of "bi-partisan" government. Waxman has long used his Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, the principal investigative committee in the House, to rail against Republicans and business... The chairman of that committee is the only person in Congress who has unilateral power to issue subpoenas without a committee vote... He is known for his brutal and relentless questioning style. Once he has...

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chastised the Pentagon for “actions leading to the dissemination of biased and one-sided opinions on the war on terror.” The FCC ruling came in response to complaints from Representatives Rosa L. DeLauro, (D-Conn.) and John Dingell, (D-Mich.). “This is George Bush’s war,” Dingell said. “Every time some general or one of his lackeys bad-mouths al Qaeda or the Taliban it’s like a political endorsement of his Republican administration’s policies. This is impermissible political speech. We have requested that the FCC put a stop to it.” At issue is the Pentagon’s habit of allowing retired personnel...

A Federal Communications Commission investigation of on-air military analysts is providing a glimpse of what Democrats and an Obama administration will do to critics once they capture Washington. The FCC has sent letters to some of the nation's most prominent military analysts -- some of them pro-President Bush and pro-war -- suggesting they may have broken the law when they appeared on television stations to comment on and explain the war on terrorism. The FCC investigation raises the question of whether a Democrat-controlled Congress and White House next year will investigate -- and perhaps criminalize -- all sorts of actions...

To add to the mortgage meltdown miseries, the credit panic, the plunging home sales and the rising foreclosures, here's a new worry: a proposed cutoff of mortgage-interest tax deductions for houses with more than 3,000 square feet. One of Capitol Hill's most experienced and most powerful legislators is drafting a "carbon tax" bill that would do precisely that. The chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, John D. Dingell (D-Mich.), expects to introduce comprehensive climate-change legislation when Congress returns next month. Besides imposing hefty new federal taxes on gasoline, the forthcoming bill would, in Dingell's words, seek to "remove...

The Federal Communications Commission has begun notifying several TV military analysts that it is probing congressional complaints that the pundits did not properly disclose their ties to the Pentagon when reviewing the war in Iraq on air. According to a copy of the October 2 FCC letter to one of the pundits, the probe was prompted by Reps. John Dingell and Rosa DeLauro, who filed a complaint with the agency after the New York Times reported that some of the pundits were working on or bidding on Pentagon contracts and had also taken free military trips to Iraq. "When seemingly...
