WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama promoted an economic plan Saturday he said would create 2.5 million jobs by rebuilding roads and bridges and modernizing schools while developing alternative energy sources and more efficient cars.
"These aren't just steps to pull ourselves out of this immediate crisis. These are the long-term investments in our economic future that have been ignored for far too long," Obama said in the weekly Democratic radio address.
The goal is to it quickly through Congress, with help from both parties, after Obama takes office Jan. 20. The plan, which envisions those new jobs by January 2011, is "big enough to meet the challenges we face," he said.
Obama noted the growing evidence the country is "facing an economic crisis of historic proportions" and said he was pleased Congress passed an extension of unemployment benefits this past week. But, he added, `We must do more to put people back to work and get our economy moving again."

15 years ago I moved from South Carolina to Georgia. There was a road project going on in Augusta on I20, it is still going on!!! 15 YEARS in the same exact spot! Everytime I go back to SC and drive through the mess I comment to my husband, can you say PORK?
Maybe he will seize some private and corporate-owned farms and convert them to collective farms. That really worked well for the Soviets—millions of people starved from the resulting famines.
And of course the Obamunists wouldn't have the heart to make these jobs only temporary....

Yes, can’t you see large pictures of Obama at all the work sites? His jaw jutting out and his head tilted back? And those workers will all be so enthusiastic and productive about their manual labor position as some Union organizer oversees their work.
There will also be the Obama Civilian Security Force ever present.

We are rebuilding failing schools that churn out workers to build the roads and bridges that won't be used because of sky high energy costs and those of us who do drive... will be driving a Yugo.
And all this will be financed by taxing the rich folks to death. And that would be anybody with a job because hyperinflation will raise everyone to the highest tax bracket.

That was my first thought. He’s going to be granting amnesty to illegals and they will need jobs, right? The program will be in place to hand jobs to them.
Obama has never had a real job. Never had to make a payroll and has no clue how businesses run or how they make a profit. He was given everything he has because he is black. People that think he can do anything are just plain idiots. He’s nothing but a mouthpiece of the people in the background telling him what to do and say.

What the news media chose to emphasize was trivia, slanted against the Republicans in general, Ms. Palin in particular, not all of which was true. Ms. Palin never said she “could see Russia from her house.” That quote came from Tina Fey, who impersonated her on Saturday Night Live.
That Senator Obama said his energy policy would bankrupt the coal industry is rather more important than Mrs. Palin’s wardrobe, but if the news media chose not to report it (as most did not), then the Obama supporters polled can’t be blamed for not knowing it.

The American people are Leftists, they voted in the government they want, and no amount of Pollyana-based “center-right” cliche’s can stand against the facts.
